Please take a moment to review NOVAâ™s Annual Security Reports.General Description:The Associate Director of Student Communications is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of an enhanced student communications plan, cadence and strategy that will grow Northern Virginia Community Collegeâ™s relationship with its students. The associate director works closely with Marketing, Student Services and other internal stakeholders to ensure students have the information they need about enrollment and registration, resources and services, and more.Key attributes:A positive and professional team member that works well under pressure and is flexible and responsibleStrong organizational and time management skills that enable the associate director to prioritize and manage a high volume of detailed work in a fast-paced environmentDuties and Tasks:Guides the collegeâ™s overall student communications efforts to ensure our NOVA Nighthawks have the information they need to succeed and know they are valued members of our community.Responsible for developing and managing a student communications content calendar that informs the overall student communications plan and cadence.Works with Student Services, Marketing and other internal stakeholders to gather key information and points of contact for students, including a roster of experts who can respond quickly to student questions.Coordinates with Associate Director of Internal Communications, Associate Director of External Communications and Marketing to ensure student messaging and communications are aligned and appropriately timed with internal and external messaging and communications.Works with Marketing and external project partners to help coordinate and implement the collegeâ™s transition to a new CRM solution.Provides clear guidance to inform and ensure consistency in student communications across campuses and programs.Works with Student Services, Communications, Marketing and others to gather student success stories and share them with the community.Builds, motivates and manages a high performing student communications team, including contractors, to meet strategic goals and business objectives.
Required KSAs:Significant experience with student-focused communications in a higher education or corporate environment.Possesses knowledge and experience working in corporate communications and public relations.Experience providing direction to content creator(s).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Keen attention to detail, strong work ethic and initiative are key.Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), online communications tools (WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).Proficient in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms (Pardot, Salesforce, etc.)Minimum Qualifications:Bachelorâ™s degree in Communications, marketing, business or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.Significant professional experience in a communications position in K-12 or post-secondary education, government or the business sector.
