Job Summary:
The College of Nursing seeks outstanding applicants for Undergraduate advising as it is a part of the learning mission of the University.
Advisors will present the curriculum required for each part of a degree as well as fully explain the rationale of the courses and assist students in integrating the degree requirements as one part of a student's overall career plan.
This position provides firm information about degree programs within the College so that students are equipped to make more informed decisions as they begin as first-year, transfer or exploratory and move through each year of study.
Provide all exploratory students options within the College and outside the College by recommending key resources and individually guiding these students within the decision making process.
Undergraduate advising is one key component within our collaborative and vast amount of resources all working towards student success including learning, retention and graduation.
Please attach a one page summary (Specific Request 1) responding to the following questions: What do you see as your responsibility to assist students as an academic advisor and their responsibility for choices/decisions that have an impact on their academic progress? How and when do you utilize the resources outside your unit when solving a problem? When you come up against an unknown – what is your process to gain understanding and knowledge?
