Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; this is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2023 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

About the Position: We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Student Engagement Specialist (Student Services Professional IV-Range A). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Working closely with Associate Dean, Academic programs and Student Success, Director for Business Advising Center and Director for Business Career Services, the Student Engagement Specialist will serve as an integral part of the college's student success team to work on college student success initiatives. The Student Engagement Specialist is responsible for managing the CBE's tutoring center operations and scholarship programs, coordinate Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, and oversees student spaces. The incumbent will be part of the college student success team and in charge of or collaborate on projects related to student engagement which includes reviewing difficult individual, group or organizational problems, developing and recommending courses of action and implementing proposed solutions. The incumbent is charged with creating and implementing initiatives that increase students' engagement in curricular and co-curricular programs designed to support a holistic student approach and increase student retention in the College of Business. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field
plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution. Four years of professional student services work experience including experience advising students individually and in groups, as well as the analysis and resolution of complex student services problems. A masters degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, clinical psychology, social work or a job related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university and the appropriate internship or clinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for two years of professional experience.
General knowledge of the problems and methods of public administration, including organizational, personnel, and fiscal management. Knowledge of advanced statistical and research methods. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities and of the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or the equivalent level of graduate study. Proven track record of working with and influencing senior-level management. Demonstrate ability to work in direct contact with higher education faculty. Possession of exceptional organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface comfortably with both the academic community and non-academic organizations. Highly motivated and innovative self-starter.
