Enterprise Services has an outstanding opportunity for an Director- Departmental Computing. The Director position is responsible for the management of the Data Analytics & Technical Advisory Group (DATAGroup), its budget, and the direct work of 5 FTE working in strategic analysis, data, computer systems, and network programming. The Director position will report to Ann Anderson, Associate Vice President / Controler and provide workflow analysis, data and strategic support to other key executives in Finance (and other Central Administration Units as needed) including but not limited to the Associate Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, Associate Controllers, Associate Treasurers, financial directors, and other financial administrators.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership and Team management
Manages the review, assignment, and progress reporting of data driven projects to be conducted by a staff of technical professionals. These projects include, but are not limited to data process improvements, the production of ad-hoc data tools and queries, data visualizations, and strategic metrics across diverse financial units. Work with senior leadership to define project portfolio for efficiencies in systems and data flow across financial units and their contributing campus partners Assists in the rebranding and retooling of existing data tools currently deployed in a hub-and-spoke implementation across multiple servers with multiple data custodians and owners. This would include developing layout, UI and functionality standards across the enterprise. Integrate and coordinate data analysis work among unit leaders within an existing Finance LEAN framework for operational improvements and provide analytical support to major initiatives and programs to insure project success. This includes the creation and support for enterprise data queries.
Program Development and Management
Facilitates executive enterprise committees related to data, analytics and reporting. Chair of the FIN-X (the enterprise Financial Cross Functional Reporting team) with members from OPB, ISC, UW-IT, UWM and Finance responsible for the UW Financial Enterprise Reporting Strategy Development Performs strategic analysis and proposes changes to University data driven business processes and policies at the highest level (Board of Regents, Schools, Colleges, Hospitals, Faculty Senate, etc.) Designs, implements, and leads enterprise data analysis activities across units to fully optimize the use of integrated enterprise data solutions to solve technical and business problems at both strategic and operational levels

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Organizational Management, Information Systems, Human Centered Design, Finance, or related field and 6 years of experience in progressive and complex business analysis, workflow design and enterprise analysis within a project or program environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable Knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree. Experience managing a team with diverse technical skill sets Experience with project definition, planning, scheduling, and implementation. Knowledge and experience developing system requirements, specifications, documentation. Understanding with software development lifecycles. Familiarity with the uses and limitations of MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and T-SQL. Understanding of UW master data elements such as organization code and employee IDs An understanding of higher education, associated data, and reporting needs Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning abilities. Excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a cooperative effort. Strong customer focus and excellent relationship management with key partners. Must be self-directed - identify what needs to be done and spearhead efforts to accomplish tasks Demonstrated experience in working on diverse groups and teams; respects, values, and contributes to UW Finance and UW’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiar with the unique information delivery issues that exist at the University of Washington. Desired Masters Degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Finance, or Data Analytics Understanding of each of the primary data domains (HR, Financial, Student, Space, Research, and Master Data) and related data availability, complexities and problems.
