Kingsborough Community College is seeking to fill the position of Honors Program Specialist. Working in partnership with the Faculty Director of the Honors Program, the position reports to the Dean of Student Success Programs. The positionsupports program operations and activities, assists management in planning department activities, and supports communications, data management and tracking, student support, and event planning. The Program is poised to expand it???s scope and serve a larger and more diverse population. The successful candidate will be a member of the team in establishing new, technologically and data driven processes and building bridges to the Honors Program from across campus and beyond.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Honors Program Specialist duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Manage semester and annual timelines for Honors course and Honors Project participation, maintaining strong relationships with Honors Department Liaisons to ensure timely submission of planned student participation.
Provide professional, timely and accurate communications about the Honors Program to current and future students, faculty and the college community; serve as point of contact between Honors and other college programs; Monitor participation in extra- and co-curricular activities.
Assist with development and implementation of a recruitment and outreach strategy to support retention and participation growth.
Work with Honors Director to develop clear, technology oriented data collecting processes for identification of eligible and participating students; create and maintain an updated Honors database; perform data analysis and reporting; track Honors enrollments and ensure accurate notations in student records.
Support development of information pertaining to transfer and scholarship opportunities and assist students with transfer and/or scholarship applications; support the course registration process.
Coordinate Honors events (e.g. Distinctions Ceremony, Honors Reading Circle, Honors Symposium, Presidential Scholars Recognition Ceremony, etc); serve as Honors Program liaison to campus Events Management; prepare certificates of recognition.
Support efforts of Department Honors Liaisons, Honors Club Advisors, PTK Advisors and other staff/faculty working on facets of co-curricular experiences.
Collaborate with cross-campus success programs including CUNY Research Scholars Program.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Experience with or knowledge of best practices in Honors Programming
Experience with Advisement and/or student support in a culturally and academically diverse institution of higher education
Strong oral, written and presentation skills
Ability to work within Excel and Access to create basic databases and spreadsheets including ability to match data
Familiarity with transfer and scholarship processes for competitive programs
Experience with student information and student support systems such as PeopleSoft (CUNYFirst) and Starfish/Navigate
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.
Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings

Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services
Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures
Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials
May supervise office operations and/or department budget
