Job Description: The Assistant Residential Coordinator (RC) is a graduate, part time, live-in member of the Office of Residential Life and Housing. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Affairs for Residential Life (ADRL) and serves a key role in promoting the academic, social, and personal success of students in the residence halls. The ARC is responsible for the on-site management and oversight of one or more residential areas that range in occupancy from 40-150 undergraduate students. The ARC will directly supervise between two and four undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs). ARCs share responsibility for a 24/7/365 on-call rotation for crisis response and management for a residential campus of approximately 425 students. This is a live-in staff position, responsible for responding to emergency situations including evenings and weekends. This is a part-time, 10-month (25 hours per week) position.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to)
- Assist with RA recruitment, selection, and placement for the residential community. Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate two to four undergraduate RAs (depending on area placement). Conduct weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly on-on-one supervision meetings with RAs, including both group and individual feedback. Oversee the creation of the duty schedule for the RAs.
- Oversee the programming and community development expectations for the area of oversight. Monitor the proposal and evaluations for programs submitted via eRezLife. Maintain visibility an availability in the halls for student, families, and staff. Conduct wellness checks and follow-ups as needed.
- Participate in the on-call duty rotation for ARCs. Be available for all hands on deck times throughout the year (opening and closing, unforeseen circumstances, high traffic weekends, etc). Serve as a primary resource for emergency situations and critical incidents. Work cooperatively with university personnel including but not limited to: Public Safety, Counseling and Wellness, and Student Health Services in emergency response. Provide incident updates to the Assistant Director of Residential Life.
- Serve as a Student Conduct Officer, managing lower level violations of the Student Code of Conduct and the Housing Contract. Utilize Maxient to maintain student records. Educate students about and enforce the Student Code of Conduct and the Housing Contract. Assist in resolving disputes and facilitating roommate medications as necessary.
- Participle in the on-call duty rotation and make decisions related to the immediate needs of students and residential communities. Determine the best course of action in situations requiring immediate decisions.
- Determine responsibility in student conduct cases, and appropriate sanctions in line with student conduct guidelines and manuals. Determine appropriate and reasonable follow up.
- Assist with hiring for RAs for the department and training - determine best fit for the staff and qualifications for student staff who join the team.
Job Requirements:Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Enrollment in a graduate program strongly preferred
- Prior employment experience on a college campus
- Mediation, intervention, conflict management and problem solving skills.
Other Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment
- Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as needed (e.g., mail merge, data base management). Familiarity with specific applications used by the University/Department a plus.
- Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision
- Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public

Additional Information:Compensation: The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $15 to $16.50 per hour. The final offer will be based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. In addition, this position also receives on-campus accommodations and a meal plan (19 meals/week) during the academic year as part of the compensation package.
Work Environment: ARCs spend time in their offices and time doing walkthroughs of the buildings. Buildings have stairs and some do not have elevators. ARCs receive office space with computers. Because of the nature of the work, ARCs also receive on-campus accommodations, and a meal plan during the academic year.
