Position Summary:
Engages students in decision making processes and promotes appropriate and responsible choices on academic matters such as course selection and degree requirements. Maintains appropriate confidentiality, updates student advising records, and contributes to the development and delivery of academic advising related events and programs. Works to ensure students receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of promoting student success, retention, and program completion. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in the following or similar fields: Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Services such as Psychology and Social Work or Education
- Experience in a Counseling, Advising or Education Setting
- Experience with Educator Preparation Programs
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong Organizational Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to Build Good Rapport with a Variety of Constituent Groups
- Ability to use Computer Applications for Student Data Management and Assessment Data
- Data gathering, analysis, and interpretation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in the following or similar fields. Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Services such as Psychology and Social Work or Education
- Experience with Educator Preparation Programs
- Experience Advising in Higher Education
- Experience in using Student Data Management Systems and Analyzing Student Assessment Data
