This position provides oversight and leadership for Campus Ministry Office including discipleship/mentoring, Life Together Groups, co-curricular programming for discipleship, and coordination of chapel services including leading worship. The Assistant Chaplain/Chapel Worship Coordinator supervises the work of a graduate intern and student leaders and reports to the Vice President of Student Development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
SPIRTUAL FORMATION
- Oversee and champion campus-wide mentoring and discipleship
- Recruit, train, and supervise student Discipleship Ministry Coordinator
- Manage all aspects of recruiting, training, and supervising mentors
- Meet regularly with student mentors for planning and coaching
- Oversee Life Together Groups (Small group ministry)
- Recruit, train, and supervise Life Together Group facilitators
- Assure adequate space on campus for groups
- Promote groups to faculty, staff, and students
- Assess effectiveness of groups
- Encourage student spiritual formation team
- Recruit, train, and supervise student leaders
- Encourage prayer and Bible study across campus
- Maintain and creatively promote prayer room
- Provide pastoral care and leadership to students
- Meet students for spiritual care
- Offer premarital/marital counseling as needed
CHAPEL MINISTRY
- Coordinate the chapel calendar.
- In consultation with VP of Student Development, recruit and secure speakers for chapels
- Organize major chapel events such as Deeper Life, Homecoming chapel, and other special chapel events
- Maintain the order of services for chapels and communicating responsibilities to participants
- Oversee, mentor, and encourage chapel worship leaders for at least three weekly services.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise worship team and production crew members
- Meet regularly with worship leaders for planning and coaching, communicating speakers’ themes and encouraging an appropriate variety of elements, styles, forms, and formats
- Supervise travel preparations of student worship teams, joining them as beneficial or needed
- Assist with the overall quality of chapel.
- Oversee use of planning software, providing training and recommending new methods and technologies
- Attend daytime chapels regularly and Sunday evening chapels occasionally
- Assess and leading in improvements of presentations, including audio and video production
- Periodically lead chapel worship as an example to student leaders and an edification of the Crown Community
- Maintain equipment related to chapel worship and recommending purchases as needed
ADMINISTRATION AND OTHER DUTIES
- Develop promo material for ministries
- Check mail box, e-mail, and phone daily and correspond in timely fashion
- Coordinate expenses to faithfully steward budget
- Participate in college committees as assigned
- Serve as strategic leader within Student Development Division
- Write year-end report of status of ministry
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor

- Skills and experience leading worship with variety and excellence
- Ministry experience, preferable with young adults
- Strong administrative with attention to details

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ Degree in worship, ministry, or related field
- Worship leading experience
- Experience working with college students in leadership
- Carry ministry license with Christian & Missionary Alliance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in ministry related field
