Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsel and advise prospective first-year and transfer students on admissions requirements, policies, and procedures on location or virtually, via phone and email.
- Render admissions decisions on applications, applying appropriate criteria, and using discernment and good judgment.
- Ability to conduct information sessions for prospective students.
- Manage recruitment territory. Travel extensively in North Carolina to conduct high school visits, attend college fairs, interact with diverse student and family populations and develop relationships with high school counselors.
- Reside in the Greensboro or Durham metro area and work non-traditional hours as needed.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience working with high school students or prospective students preferably in an admissions or advising role from a non-profit institution.
- Experience reviewing admissions applications and/or advising for competitive academic programs.
- Experience with presenting to large groups both in person and in a virtual format.
- Evidence of attention to detail and exceptional verbal/nonverbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to accomplish essential job duties.
- Reside in the Greensboro or Durham metro area.
- Special consideration will be given to those with experience recruiting students to UNC Charlotte.
