Associate Director of Program OperationsAbout the OpportunityResponsibilities:The Associate Director of Program Operations is a full-time staff member within the Center of Student Involvement (CSI), and serves as a member of the Center's leadership team. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Involvement, the Associate Director is responsible for providing direct supervision and leadership of the critical operational functions that support CSI and the University, including ticket center operations, communications and marketing, systems management, Programming Lab operations, the New Students Initiatives Program, and the Student Club Advisor Program.
Ticketing Operations: In conjunction with the CSI staff, the Associate Director supports the Programs Operations team in overseeing the non-athletic ticket operations within the Division of Student Affairs, which results in more than 50,000 ticket reservations annually. The team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the box office, including staffing and training, technological infrustructures, financial reconciliations, and other duties as assigned.
Marketing & Communications: The Associate Director also supports the Programs Operations team, and members of the greater CSI team, supervising the day-to-day management of digital and print media entities. The Associate Director leads CSI efforts on developing and implementing internal and external departmental communications, including the development, management, and maintenance of CSI policies, protocols, and processes. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the CSI website, Student Organization Resource Guide (SORG) updates, student organization and campus partner newsletter, CSI social media outlet management, and serving as a liaison between Marketing & Communiations and Northeastern's 545+ student organizations to ensure compliance with University branding standards. The Associate Director also coordinates creative efforts and the general marketing/promotion of CSI-sponsored and University signature programs and events.
Programming Lab Operations Management: The Associate Director supports the Program Operations team in the management of the Programming Lab, a space created for CSI-recognized student organizations to plan and collaborate. The operations team oversees the management of the Programming Lab resources (i.e., computer use, a reserveable conference space, procurement and distribution of free event and marketing items, rental items, student club mail and package management, and storage space and locker reservations). Additionally, the Program Operations team recruits, trains and supervises the student programming team (The Crew), Contracts Assistants and Front Desk Assistants, and are charged with planning a training for all student employees each semester.
New Student Initiatives Program: The Associate Director supports the Program Operations team in the creation and management of one-time student initiatives. The team will be responsible for developing a process for students seeking to create one-time events, fundraising initiatives, and committees or programs related to their passions. This new initiative will explore methods to increase opportunities for students to become more engaged in our co-curricular efforts outside of traditional student club participation.
Student Club Advisor Program: The Associate Director supports the Program Operations team in the management of the Student Organization Advisor program. This program exists to provide student organization faculty/staff advisors with the information and support they need to be successful in their role. Additionally, this program supports student organization leaders of officially recognized clubs and leaders seeking to establish new clubs in their efforts to recruit a club Advisor. The Program Operations team is committed to preparing advisors to effectively manage situations that arise among student organizations.
Supervision: The Associate Director directly supervises one (1) Assistant Director, two (2) Program Operations Specialists, and one (1) Office Manager. The Associate Director also provides indirect supervision for student and/or part-time staff as supervised by the Programs Operations team.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications:A Master's degree Higher Education Administration, College Student Development/Personnel Services, or related field is preferred with 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in operations, systems management and implementation, box office operations, student activities, and/or major event logistics management. In the absence of a Master's degree, consideration will be given to candidates who have a combination of 6-8 years of relevant experience and education. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience supervising full-time staff. Desire to work at a fast-paced, global university is essential as is a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate must have excellent problem-solving skills and exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills. As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, the Associate Director will align his/her/their work with the established mission, vision, and literacies of the Division as well as those of the University. The Associate Director must be able to work collaboratively and be able to make sound decisions independently.
