To provide strategic direction and staff supervision to the Career Services department.
Responsibilities:
Serves as a member of the division management team by serving on or creating campus-wide committees.
Preparing staff evaluations, institutional effectiveness reports, department planning and assessments, and campus-wide correspondence as well as reporting.
Conducts annual assessments of the effectiveness of programs and implements program improvements based on assessment data.
Develops new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni
Develops and maintains effective relationships with employers.
Establishes connections with a broad base of employers, government agencies, private industries, nonprofit agencies, and school districts.
Works directly with academic deans, heads of departments, and faculty in creating and establishing broad-based and experiential internships for students.
Works directly with academic deans in creating internship policies, programs, courses, and learning objectives for students.
Coordinates directly with academic colleges, employers, alumni, and students regarding the objectives of the internship program.
Coordinates and/or participates in job development, survey research, work-study job placement, workshops, and presentations within and outside the career center, and other special projects of University Career Services.
Plans, coordinates, and hosts events, including career fairs, graduate fairs, and other professional development activities.
Provides resources and training in the preparation of resumes, the development of effective interview skills, and sources of employment opportunities.
Develops, organizes, and presents workshops, classes, and professional development seminars on job-seeking skills.
Leads training sessions for colleagues on appropriate career development topics.
Participates in professional development activities offered by the department, the Division for Student Affairs, the University, and professional organizations.
Supervises assigned staff.
 Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
Master's degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, or closely related field.
Ten years of experience in corporate arenas.Â
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
