Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, the Coordinator will join the Division of Student Life team and will develop and implement creative, innovative and engaging campus-wide programming opportunities, which meet the needs of a diverse campus community at Washington & Jefferson College. As a 4-year residential campus, this position will work with student organizations to offer a variety of campus-wide events with a special focus on evening and weekend events to foster and support community and create rich, co-curricular experiences outside of the classroom. This position will also assume generalist responsibilities within the area of the Office of Belonging & Engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clubs & Organizations
- Work with student organizations in an advising capacity to plan and create campus-wide programming and events, focused on fun, community building and wellness.
- Create and implement student organization training and development activities to provide tools to increase organizational collaboration and efficiency. Maintain regular communication with student organization Advisors and executive boards.
- Oversee the registration process for new and existing student organizations.
- Manage operating budget of campus activities
Student Activities Board & Student Engagement Student Staff
- Co-supervise the Student Engagement student staff and provide opportunities for programming and building/event management skill enhancement.
- Serve as the advisor for the student programming board.
- Manage operating budget of the student programming board.
Campus-wide Programming
- Plan and host student events such as Casino Night, Concerts, Finals Week Stress Busters, and more.
- Assist with large-scale events such as Feel Good Fridays, New Student Orientation, Matriculation, and Commencement.
- Lead the planning and execution of Welcome Week during the first week of the Fall semester.
- Serve on divisional and institutional committees when applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree with student programming and event planning experience is highly desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude for collaboration, an expressed commitment to issues of student development and engagement, and an ability to work effectively with faculty and administrative staff.
Supervisory Duties:
