The Student Services and Data Manager supports Academic Advising within the College of Science (COS), as they work closely with students who are working towards completing their undegraduate degree at Northeastern.
Specifically, the Student Services and Data Manager will be responsible for assisting the Academing Advising team as they support students at all points: answering inquiries from prospective students and transfers, assisting those transitioning to COS, providing general responses and assistance to inquiries from undergraduates, and generally supporting the work of Advising as they help students develop the skills necessary to navigate the College of Science curriculum and successfully completing degree requirements for timely graduation.
Additionally, the Student Services and Data Manager will assist the Academic Advising team by maintaining Advising Sharepoint site, supporting or admistering other in-house student portals or technologies, processing Change of Major/Minor and Pattern of Attendance requests, supporting registration processes / drop-in hours, and assisting with student programming, first-year transition and academic planning.
Working with Advising team, assume responsibility for the development and maintenance of class-year advising pages in Canvas
Follow up on student questions and concerns via management of the COS Advising Inbox
Processing Change of Major/Minor and Pattern of Attendance requests
Supporting Registration processes and drop-in hours
Assist with student programming, as it relates to new student and transfer orientation, first-year transition and academic planning
Assist with the development of communication materials and manage Advising communications to students, including maintaining the communication calendar and provide content for COS Advising Newsletter.
Assist with preparation of advising materials
Data and Operations Support
Compile and analyze data, information, and develop advanced data reports relevant to student records; create forms and summarize data sets through Google Apps, Microsoft Excel, Tableau and other applications.
Coordinate efforts to uphold the completeness and integrity of data in various advising systems; serve as liaison with central advising technology team.
Manages and updates COS Advising SharePoint site
Maintain important advising resources and materials through the Advising SharePoint site and Teams system.
Assist with preparation of presentations and dissemination of information using PowerPoint and other tools as needed.
Assist COS Advising with special projects related to student programming and events, and new initiatives as needed.
Bachelor's degree required in a related field. Candidate should have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in an academic or business environment. A high level of proficiency with technology, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, are expected. Applicant must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and complete tasks for a number of different people. Proven success working both independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced and diverse environment is preferred.
