Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Student Engagement is responsible for contributing to the creation and facilitation of a vibrant campus environment that is conducive to student development. This includes all aspects of student organizations and co-curricular programs, Greek-lettered organizations, and the integration of academic experiences with quality out of classroom opportunities. Christian Brothers University is seeking an experienced, creative, innovative, and student-centered individual who will serve an integral role in developing a positive, and actively involved, student campus community that promotes student success and retention.
Serves as the primary administrator responsible for the management, oversight and advising of all recognized student organizations.
Coordinates the review and approval process for new student organizations, and the annual registration renewal process for student organizations; maintains updated records on student organizations (database and files); manages student organization goal setting and evaluation processes; financial management and oversight of all student organization budgets.
Creates innovative ways to engage students and publicizes campus-wide events and programs.
Leads the advisement of all aspects of the Greek Community (Councils, Associations, etc.).
Advises Greek chapters in the area of personal and organizational leadership development.
Strengthens the Greek community and develops a plan for potential expansion opportunities.
Develops a Greek Chapter Standards accreditation process.
Assists with the Greek Chapter Standards accreditation process by working with assigned chapters to ensure compliance in all areas.
Develops and facilitates a comprehensive student usage/programming plan for the Swashbuckler lounge.
Develops/selects an appropriate student organization management software program. Coordinates training and marketing efforts for students and staff related to the use of the software, and communicates technical needs with CBU Information Technology staff.
Serves as a resource to student organizations and their advisors for contract procedures and review.
Acts as lead Department consultant for student organizations, student organization advisors, and campus departments regarding organization management, budgeting, program and event planning/management, risk management, and University business practices (Purchasing, Accountants Payable, etc.).
Provides oversight for all Office of Student Engagement's student employees and interns including hiring, training, and scheduling.
Coordinates marketing and promotional efforts on behalf of the Office of Student Engagement.
Creates, edits and publishes the annual Student Organization Handbooks for leaders and advisors.
Develops a student leadership program that includes marketing, promotion and implementation.
Assists in the preparation of various department and divisional reports (i.e. strategic plan updates, weekly reports, annual reports).
Advises the Student Activity Council.
Develops a social media strategy that includes creating and posting material, as well as measuring its impact.
Works collaboratively and serves as a member of the Division of Student Development and Campus Life.
Supervises the Assistant Director of Student Engagement.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and the Vice President for Student Development and Campus Life.
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or other related field preferred..
A minimum of 3 years full time experience in the area of student engagement/activities.
Experience with diverse student activities programming and marketing of events to students.
Experience working with diverse student populations.
Experience working with fraternities and sororities.
Knowledge of leadership theories and best practices in leadership development programs preferred.
