ASSISTANT DEAN, FRATERNITIES, SORORITIES AND INDEPENDENT LIVING GROUPS (FSILG), Division of Student Life (DSL)-Fraternities, Sororities and Independent Living Groups, to provide support, advisement, and direction to MIT's Interfraternity Council (IFC) and the organizations that fall under it, particularly in the areas of leadership, organizational development, and chapter and community programming. Will work with IFC's twenty-six organizations and Interfraternity Council to strengthen the ongoing viability of the fraternity/sorority community and ensure the system offers effective and quality programs; empower member students and alumni/ae organizations to responsibly approach issues of risk management and effectively oversee daily chapter operations; provide event planning, organization activities support, educational and officer training, leadership development, and crisis response; and contribute to developing and maintaining the FSILG community in an effort to maximize the personal growth potential of students and student leaders and create productive learning environments for students.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or related field; three years' related professional work experience; ability to multitask and work flexibly in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, leadership training, public speaking, and writing skills; good judgment in understanding and relating to students of various backgrounds; and ability to articulate a student development philosophy in a high-intensity academic environment. Seek a team and service-oriented individual who is able to collaborate with students, alumni, administration, and local officials. PREFERRED: master's degree; experience working in fraternity/sorority field full-time; ability to adhere AFA Core Competencies, NASPA and ACPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners, and CAS Standards; and an appreciation for the value of the fraternal experience as a component of the college educational experience. Starting salary range: high $70s-mid $80s
Working evening and weekend hours will be necessary.
This position has a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and on-campus work.
