Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, VP & Treasurer, this position will manage the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the College’s obligations under Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act and the Clery Act, as amended by the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2013 (VAWA). Oversee and ensure the College’s compliance with all Title IX requirements.
Working both independently and collaboratively with The Claremont Colleges Title IX Administrator, will oversee and ensure Title IX compliance for the College. Responsible for tracking and monitoring incidents of discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct. Ensures prompt and equitable resolution of complaints. Coordinates, and conducts as needed, training, education and prevention efforts for issues related to harassment, discrimination and equal opportunity. Advises on options for responding to and resolving complaints. Provides advice and information on Title IX, the College’s Discrimination and Harassment Policies and Procedures, relevant federal, state and local laws relating to discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity and civil rights, and how these laws interact.
Essential Functions
Coordinates all TIX and gender-based discrimination complaints. Ensure investigations comply with the College’s grievance procedures and Title IX requirements under either the Pitzer College policies, The Claremont Colleges Title IX policies, or the policies of another institution, including notices, timelines, training, interim actions, etc. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assessing immediate and ongoing need for supportive and safety measures and collaborating with appropriate College offices to implement such measures
Assessing appropriateness of informal and formal procedures
Selection of investigators and hearing adjudicators, including outside personnel
Overseeing investigations and hearings in collaboration with The Claremont Colleges Title IX Administrator
Assuring adherence to relevant policies
Keeping students updated on status of matters
Maintaining Title IX documentation and records (including Maxient records)
Ensure any recommended sanctions and corrective actions are carried out in a timely manner.
Collect and maintain documentation of all proceedings (reports, transcripts, emails, audio recordings, etc.) in accordance with the College’s Discrimination and Harassment Policies and Procedures and other applicable College policies.
Develop and implement a Title IX training program for students, faculty and staff that satisfy the Title IX requirements and recommendations. Manage training program for staff and faculty on sexual assault, sexual harassment prevention (including AB1825) and FERPA.
Collaborate with student groups, staff, and faculty on prevention education programming.
Develop and maintain Title IX communication materials, e.g., Pitzer Title IX website, informational brochures.
Develop and implement compliance program with applicable federal and state laws, regulations and guidance (e.g., Title IX, VAWA, FERPA) and update internal policies as needed.
Provide leadership to Consortium-?wide committees such as the Title IX and Clery Working Groups. Collaborate with The Claremont Colleges Title IX Administrator and the Title IX Coordinators at other Consortium colleges to ensure policies and practices are appropriate and legally compliant.
Provide leadership and/or assistance with Consortium-?wide initiatives such as climate surveys, law enforcement MOU, the 7C Sexual Misconduct website, TCCS employee trainings, among others.
Maintain and provide records and data as needed for institutional purposes and legal compliance.
Work closely with the 7C sexual assault resource center (EmPOWER Center.)
Lead College-wide Title IX training in compliance with Clery and Title law. Responsible for ensuring all students, employees, contractors and volunteers complete the applicable campus mandated compliance trainings including but not limited to the annual Title IX training, the Discrimination Harassment and Retaliation training, Mandated Reporter training and the Conflict-of-Interest training.?
Assist the Office of Student Affairs with Clery compliance and training, including preparation of the ASFSR.
Develop and sustain effective and collaborative working relationships with personnel of internal and external resource organizations (e.g., Office of Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Human Resources, EmPOWER Center of The Claremont Colleges, Campus Safety, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at local hospital, Monsour Counseling Center, House of Ruth, Project Sister, etc.).

Use recent versions of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Maxient.
Education/Experience: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is strongly preferred. Must have five or more years of related experience, including experience in handling grievances and conducting investigations alleging gender-based violence and discrimination. Experience dealing with dispute resolutions and/or student conduct adjudication is preferred. Experience in higher education is also preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the College’s insurer, or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-campus locations.
Supervisory Responsibility: No.
Work Hours: The regular hours for this position are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. These hours may vary due to needs of the College or department. May be required to work evening and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements: This is generally a sedentary position. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and operate a computer for prolonged periods of time. Must have the stamina to work long hours as needed. Must have the mental resilience to handle highly emotional and potentially stressful situations on a regular basis.
