As a member of the corporate engagement and foundation relations unit, each development coordinator provides strategic administrative and operational support for a team whose primary objective is to secure fundraising support and non-philanthropic investment from external partners for priorities identified by university leadership. Work produced by this position is highly visible among faculty, administrators and college leadership.
Based on qualifications and experience, a selected candidate may hold one of these job titles: Development Assistant or Development Coordinator.
Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage campus meetings including communications, scheduling, preparing meeting materials, and distributing information.
- Coordinate schedules, dates, locations and create itineraries, briefing documents and biographical information in support of meetings with corporate and foundation representatives.
- Coordinate engagement team meetings including scheduling, attending and taking minutes. Develop agendas and coordinate materials for team-initiated meetings.
- Provide project oversight of document management and office policies and procedures.
- Request and interpret data and reports. Run or request data queries as needed for acknowledgements, prospect management and stewardship.
- Assist in managing operating budgets, travel budgets and special project budgets within the unit. Oversee disbursement voucher processing, expenditures and expense reimbursements.
- Manage office communications, correspondence and compliance with records retention procedures.
- Oversee acknowledgement process for development officers and work with campus recipients to acknowledge gifts.
- Assist in hiring, training and supervising student development staff. Meet regularly with student employees to set expectations, assign and assess work and evaluate unit needs to be met by students.
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or appropriate related years of experience at a comparable level relating to the duties required of this position. 2 years of professional experience or combination of relevant education and/or demonstrated work experience.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience interpreting financial data is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Experience in organizational planning, diplomacy and professionalism.
- Must be adaptable, flexible and self-directed.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
- Experience using Salesforce is preferred.
