New River Community College (NRCC) is a comprehensive community college located in the New River Valley of Virginia. In recent years individual professors and college programs have received state and national awards for their quality.* Provide administrative support for the Student Services Division; reporting to the Student Success Coordinator.* Assist Coordinators and Advisors in multiple events and functions annually to include new student orientation, high school senior and family nights, Career Day, transfer fairs, open houses, career and resource fairs, campus tours, training sessions and workshops, information sessions and admissions events.* Manage purchasing and budgets within all institutional, VCCS, state and federal guidelines, to include knowledge of eVa, Chrome River and Shared Services.* Run reports and queries in multiple relational databases, such as SIS/PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate, student success platforms, and XAP admissions application, to support the efforts of student enrollment, engagement, success, and retention.* Utilize EAB Navigate and other student success platforms to assist students with appointment scheduling with appropriate advising and student services staff, and support advising staff scheduling.* Manage the calendar of visiting admissions representatives of four-year colleges to the Dublin campus and Christiansburg site, and facilitate logistics for the representatives.* Create and maintain documents, spreadsheets, databases and calendars using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook, and facilitating interfaces with Outlook and Navigate.* Provide high quality customer service to prospective students and families, students, faculty, staff and external constituents.* Create and post weekly student announcement communications.* Serve as back-up administrative support to Student Welcome Center Operator.* Work schedule will include some evenings and weekends.
Associate degree or combination of work experience and coursework that would be equivalent to an associate degree. Excellent computer skills including MS office applications, relational databases, Google Docs, etc. Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population including students, faculty, staff, parents and the general public in a professional environment.
