Description of Key Responsibility:
Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed. 1. To provide comprehensive DEI education for student-athletes, athletic department staff, and coaches. The assistant athletic director is expected to be knowledgeable and proficient in DEI content and is responsible for providing strategic direction focused on the student-athletes, staff, and coaches.
2. Collaborate with a wide variety of constituents across campus and within the athletic department to create and implement strategies, policies, programs, and training that supports a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment across the department and its sports programs for student-athletes and staff.
3. Serve as a facilitator for programs and committee work. Encourage and support student-athletes and staff in their participation in campus, community, and athletic programming.
4. Assist with the development of strategies and processes that promote the hiring, retention, and success of a diverse and inclusive staff.
5. Work with both internal and external stakeholders to create and enhance fundraising opportunities for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for Athletics.
6. Envision, develop, implement, evaluate, and manage new or emerging student-athlete welfare programs that will enhance North Central's NCAA Division III philosophy of academic, athletic, leadership and community service excellence.
7. Supervise all the Athletic Leadership Programs and their administrative coach assigned to each program. See to it that the person in that position plans, maintains, trains staff, and coordinates the athletic department activities and schedules throughout the academic year. Evaluate existing and implement new programs and service projects on a regular basis. A few of these programs include the Athletic Mentorship Program (AMP) and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
8. Represent the College as the Senior Administrator at all CCIW and NCAA meetings, events, professional development opportunities, compliance issues, and conference and national committee work and seminars.
9. Act as a supervisor for athletic department support staff, athletic department interns, student-workers and graduate assistants. Help create job descriptions; select, train, assign and evaluate their work.
10. Serve the College as a Title IX Deputy. Staying updated regarding required training hours, legislation and community service is a requirement.
11. Develop effective marketing plans for select athletic contests, tournaments and major sporting events. Create a comprehensive marketing plan, in collaboration with institutional marketing, for athletic department events. Develop programs to encourage target group participation (students, faculty, staff, neighbors and youth sports participants) to regularly attend home athletic contacts. Supervise interns and graduate assistants with these initiatives.
12. Assist with the management of select home athletic contests
13. Work collaboratively with institutional grant writer, Dyson Wellness Center and their sport interns, marketing graphic designer, faculty mentors, coordinator of recreation sports and spirit squads, and other individuals and groups on campus.
14. Serve on a variety of College committees representing the athletic department, individual athletic programs, and all student-athletes welfare. Included in these are Student Affairs standing committee work such as the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) and the Bias Incident Reporting Team (BIRT).
15. Assist with the comprehensive training for newly hired athletic department employees, including GAs, in conjunction with other SAA and athletics staff. Encourage and offer opportunities for professional development for the coaching and support staff. Provide technical assistance and training on department operations to all department staff. Regularly update the departmental handbook.
16. Serve as a departmental liaison with a variety of offices such as: the admission office, the wellness center, marketing and communication, sports information, residence life, and food service.
17. Other duties as appropriately assigned.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform routine office functions such as typing, filing, and copying.
2. Participate in logistical activities such as delivering materials to and picking up materials from the campus print shop and mailroom, storage areas, vendor facilities and other locations.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Three to five years of professional-level work experience in higher education administration or related field. Proficiency in developing, managing, and being responsible for diverse and inclusive leadership programming preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.
Position Summary:
To provide leadership in the department, division, and across the CCIW and NCAA in developing strategies that advance the overall goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion. To supervise the creation, development, and implementation of athletic leadership programs that enhance the experience of each student-athlete and coach. To serve as the Title IX deputy for the College. To represent the athletic department as the Senior Woman Administrator. To provide select event management oversight and supervision.
