Essential Functions: Develop and/or support student success initiatives that enhance the retention mission of the college.Provide comprehensive suite of advising services to prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students.Partner with other CFPCA academic advisors and staff in other university units to handle complex issues and problems for individual students.Develop communication techniques that engage students where they are on social media as appropriate.Provide assistance as needed for recruitment events.Communicate effectively and accurately academic and non-academic requirements, policies and procedures to students, staff and faculty.Work as a member of the CFPCA advising team and serve as the college liaison to other units as appropriate.Continuously develop knowledge of best practices and tools in the areas of advising and learning communities.Must be available to work evening and weekend hours as need and requested. Provide own transportation to work and work-related events.
Qualifications: Master's degree required.At lease one degree or more from the disciplines in the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts; education, advising, counseling, or related field.Previous work experience in higher education or a related non-profit setting.Knowledge of best practices in academic advising.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students with varying levels of academic preparedness.Computer skills commonly utilized in an office setting.Demonstrated excellence in time management and organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.Demonstrated ability to think creatively.
