Budget Title: Title IX Coordinator
Duties:
SUNY New Paltz seeks a practitioner and dynamic leader for the role of Title IX Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity, and Inclusion (HRDI), the Title IX Coordinator will lead Title IX management, training, and response. The position supervises one management confidential professional whose portfolio includes LGBTQ+ Support. The Title IX Coordinator must have a commitment to modeling and cultivating an inclusive and equitable institutional culture.
The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for reporting individuals regarding Title IX claims or concerns. In cases involving employees, the Title IX Coordinator collaborates with HRDI employee relations specialist to conduct interviews and appropriately investigate reports. In cases involving students, this position supports the reporting individual and works closely with the Office of Student Conduct for intake of Title IX reports. The Title IX Coordinator designs and delivers training and education to students and employees, works with partner offices, and colleagues on programming and events, maintains records on investigations and outcomes, provides appropriate follow-up including coordinating academic accommodations and interim support measures for reporting individuals. To be effective, candidates must stay current with all SUNY, state and federal regulations pertaining to Title IX, Violence Against Women Act and all associated regulations and will be required to travel occasionally for meetings and professional development. The Title IX Coordinator is also responsible for survey and other data collection for compliance reporting to NYS Department of Education, SUNY and federal agencies as required. This role is expected to provide service to the institution as well as within the SUNY system. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- A Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 3 years of experience in Title IX or Title VII management and administration
- Experience in programming and training design and delivery
- Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to Title IX, Violence Against Women Act, Title VII, as well as NYS Education Law 129B and NYS Human Rights
- Sound investigative experience and practices, collegiality, and professionalism, as well as highly effective verbal and written communication skills are essential to the role
Preferred:
- Masters or Graduate degree in a related field (such as counseling, social work-related fields, student affairs administration, law)
- Experience with Title IX in a college setting
