The Director of the Aulbani J. Beauregard Center for Equity, Justice, and Freedom is a key campus leader in the efforts to foster a more inclusive, welcoming, and equitable community. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director serves as a resource and advocate for underrepresented students – especially for students whose ethnic, racial, gender identity, and sexual orientation identities play a primary role in their university experience. The Director is responsible for providing vision and leadership to the Center, both as a physical space and as a driving force to create a more equitable and socially just campus through education, advising advocacy, and community building.The director oversees two professional staff members and indirectly leads a team of paraprofessional staff, including graduate assistants and student employees. In addition to being supervised by the Dean of Students, the Director is supported by the Chief Diversity Officer and the Office of Community, Equity, and Diversity. The Director must build relationships with students, faculty, staff, senior administrators, alumni, and other internal and external stakeholders to advance the vision of an inclusive campus. The Director partners with academic and administrative units to implement initiatives that enhance student development, intercultural education, and global engagement. In partnership with the Office of Community, Equity, and Diversity, the Director contributes to the leadership of diversity, equity, and inclusion education and outreach and training initiatives at UNH. They also advocate for initiatives that promote cultural competence, enrich campus climate, and foster a culture of mutual respect and inclusion.For this position, UNH is seeking a visionary leader who understands the challenges of historically underrepresented college students and can support UNH’s goal of fostering these students’ success. Through an intersectional framework, the Director creates and promotes an inclusive culture for student success while serving as a role model for students, providing the inspiration, vision, mentoring, and direction needed to assist students in achieving their personal, academic, and professional goals.

Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Social Justice, Sociology or a related field, and 5+ years of related experience with a demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity initiatives.Proven track record of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education and working directly with college students.Experience in creating academic and cultural programs and services for underrepresented student populations in a university setting.Experience in project management, planning, implementation, and assessment of programs.Expert knowledge of equity, historic and contemporary social disparities, multicultural education theoretical models, and effective co-curricular educational practices.Highly cultivated cultural competency, coupled with superior intercultural communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively relate to and support diverse, underrepresented students.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, diplomacy, and sensitivity to engage effectively with all constituencies, build consensus for change, and thrive in a complex environment.Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to challenging student and community issues including the ability to lead difficult conversations and dialogues across differences.Proven ability to build alliances with and partner with stakeholders, as well as experience working in a shared governance organization to ensure greater cross-department integration and improve student success.Excellent budget development and fiscal management skills.Experience using assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.Supervisory skillsWillingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
