Job Summary
The Assistant Bursar will work closely with the Bursar to develop policies and procedures related to the billing and collection of tuition, fees, and other funds due to the College, and for the implementation of all billing functions as well as the deposition of funds into the appropriate bank accounts. Ensures the student invoice process is accurate and timely by coordinating the efforts between the Registrar, Admissions, and Financial Aid offices.
Job Duties
- The Assistant Bursar will work closely with the Bursar to develop, coordinate, and implement policies and procedures for the accurate and timely billing and collection of tuition and fees as well as other College billings as well as cash deposits.
- Responsible for review, processing and follow-up on all student refunds.
- Reconciliation and analysis of all receivable accounts between the subsidiary and general ledgers.
- The Assistant Bursar will work with the Bursar to recommend, implement and maintain the appropriate technology tools for student billing and collections for the College.
- Assist in coordinating and maintaining the student information system used for student billing and invoices.
- Maintains the billing office information on the website and Portal.
- Provide high quality customer service to students and their families by answering questions and resolving payment issues.
- Perform other accounting and accounts receivable duties as needed and ensures proper controls are in place.
- Responsible for reconciliation of revenue and receivable accounts and preparation of any necessary audit work papers and analysis.
- Work with the Bursar to collaborate with the Financial Aid office in providing one-stop student services regarding financial matters.
- Responsible for compliance with fiscal requirements mandated for handling federal and state student financial assistance funds.
- Attend College functions to explain financing options and College policy on invoice payment with respect to registration and graduation as assigned by the Bursar.
