Brief Description of Duties: Incumbents in this position serve on the admissions staff and perform professional tasks under the direct supervision of a higher level staff member. Incumbents in this role learn the professional tasks required to become familiar with campus programs and environment. The incumbents will assist students, parents, secondary school counselors and others, with a focus on out-of-state markets, by providing instructions and information, clarifying outstanding admissions, financial aid requirements, and assisting students with building relationships with other campus personnel. The Admissions Representative will assist with the review of admissions applications. The successful incumbent must have the ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary. This position is designed for incumbents to gain skills and competencies in the field of enrollment management and Admissions Representatives are not expected to remain employed in this title for an extended period of time of up to two years.The successful candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Duties: Under the direct supervision of a higher-level staff member: - Serve as point of contact for prospective and matriculating students, parents, secondary school counselors and others by providing instructions and information related to admissions, financial aid and registration requirements.
- Represent the Office of Admissions at high school visits, college fairs and other recruitment.
- Assist with the review of admissions applications.
- Acquire knowledge of Stony Brook University academic programs and student services to educate prospective students and their families about the University's strengths, and thereby enable the successful recruitment and enrollment of new undergraduate students.
- Enter data using various technical resources including the University's customer relationship management (CRM) software, SLATE. Create set reports and databases to document performance and assist with the statistical analysis of outcomes in comparison to divisional goals for increasing enrollment and retention as well as monitoring cost benefits and effectiveness of activities performed.
- Understand department and university policies, procedures and regulations to assist students, parents, secondary school counselors, and constituents.
- Assist in the coordination of communication campaigns to follow up with admission offers, scholarship offers, and outstanding registration requirements.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
