General Description:
The Student Services Specialist will provide various support services for international students. Services may include, but are not limited to, assisting with admission to the College, academic advising, paying for college, scheduling courses, and transfer/transcript evaluation.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
· Serve as Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for F-1 International Students and visas affiliated with acquiring or maintaining an F1 student visa.
· Reports all student and enrollment data as required by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
· Assists in the admissions and enrollment process for international students, including admission to the College, evaluation of transcripts and granting transfer credit on the student record, academic advising, scheduling courses, and maintaining data on enrollment.
· Conducts orientation, maintains application and website information pertaining to international students.
· Attends ongoing professional development workshops and conferences to maintain knowledge of new and changing regulations and guidelines related to international and veteran students.
· Assists with admissions and registration processing for general student population during peak registration periods.
· Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Requirements:
Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
Experience:
· A minimum of two years of experience with international students, and/or student veterans.
· A minimum of two years of academic advising or transfer student advising experience in a college setting.
· Experience working at a community college preferred.
· A minimum of one year experience with Student Information Systems, Colleague, Banner, etc., preferred.
Competencies and Skills Required:
· A minimum of two years of experience with international students, and/or student veterans.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
· This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
· Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
· Some travel required.
