Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, or other appropriate fields of study that involve extensive statistical analysis, assessment and/or reporting. Three (3) years of full-time experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Experience with medical clinic diagnostic/procedural coding and electronic medical databases. Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, or other appropriate fields of study that involve extensive statistical analysis, assessment and/or reporting. Additional years (4+) of full-time experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Experience with SAS, SQL, SPSS or other statistical software to extract and analyze data. Experience in automation of data sets and administrative operations. Experience with Medicat, PeopleSoft and/or Symplicity. Experience with project management.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Data and Analytics Specialist will draw on analytical and technical competencies to conduct analyses to support Student Affairs and Student Health Wellness and Prevention Services (SHWPS) planning, evaluation, effectiveness and reporting. The incumbent will work to continuously improve efforts with SHWPS by answering meaningful questions through data and analyses that inform decisions, stimulate action and influence positive change within the division. Prepares abstract information in accordance with mandated hospital, state, and federal registry programs. Corrects and resubmits data from abstracts as identified through edit reports from said registries. Participates in activities pertaining to Performance Improvement. Production is routinely maintained at quantitative and qualitative standards determined by the operations of the department.
Communicates with co-workers, supervisors, and medical staff with respect to work functions. The incumbent will be working with complex data sets to analyze, summarize and report answers to various problems. The Data and Analytics Specialist will provide in-depth understanding of large projects and processes which are challenging and often complicated. The incumbent will analyze problems/issues of a diverse scope and make recommendations and determine solutions. The incumbent will manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering processes, resources and functions with a high degree of autonomy.
- Responsible for immunization data, reconciliation against current standards while obtaining accurate and efficient spreadsheets for compliance purposes. Maintains confidentiality of medical & behavioral health records according to the HIPAA Standards and other regulatory and credentialing requirements. Demonstrated ability to analyze and organize data to derive meaningful insights, including the ability to summarize and present data and results clearly and accurately with appropriate detail and context. Maintains and supports various databases, spreadsheets and dash boarding reports. Identify and employ appropriate quantitative and qualitative research methods for analyses to answer strategic, tactical, structured or unstructured questions within Student Health Wellness and Prevention Services.
- Assist senior leadership with data projects including tracking of demographics, clinical case assignments and presenting problem data utilizing EMR templates. Analyzes, verifies, tracks and reports on trends data. Extracts patient clinical data from medical records or other sources containing patient clinical data. Verifies and populates patient clinical data in designated databases. Maintains consistency and integrity of data collection; report concerns regarding data. Support transformational programs via quality services such as data issue detection, and clean-up necessary to support deployment. Provide assurance on any data quality services delivered by external consulting services. Assist with design and modification of existing templates to improve data tracking. Utilize the EMR CCAPS template to build a treatment outcome database. Administer and manage reports and other deliverables. Apply technical/programming skills to extract and combine data from multiple systems. Prepare reports and other deliverables, such as dashboards, interactive worksheets / workbooks, and / or reports using appropriate tools. Creates and utilizes standard EMR reports. The candidate will participate in COVID-19 impact evaluations related to compliance, prevention and care. The candidate will analyze and manage data related to existing and new COVID-19 evaluation projects, e.g., an assessment of COVID-19vaccination among registered students, and the impact of COVID-19 safety measures on essential services including meeting key performance measures. The candidate may also have an opportunity to be involved in clinical trials, epidemiologic studies, and other collaborative projects.
- Manage dataset maintenance and quality, quantitative data analysis, interpreting and drawing conclusions from the findings, and preparing visualizations, dashboards, reports and other materials to disseminate the findings to support data-driven decision making, strategic planning, and program improvement. Uses established reporting tools, develops queries for data extraction, reporting, and analysis, with an emphasis on automation. May include identification of data structures and sources, validation of data, and/or access to multiple institutional data sources using programming languages. Applies rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy and work collaboratively with various University offices to ensure data integrity. Collaborates with various departments in database development and required modifications. Develops or customizes programs, methodologies, models and files for analysis, presentation and illustration of data. Serves as a resource for data analysis, report content, report design, etc. as needed.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulation that all hospitals and nursing homes "continuously require all personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19," Candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of acceptance of conditional job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. Candidates who are partially vaccinated, but not yet fully vaccinated, must complete their vaccination series within three (3) calendar days of job offer or in accordance with vaccine manufacture protocol, whichever comes later.

Salary:Commensurate with experience within the range of $70,000-$75,000 plus $3,026 location pay
