The Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University is seeking an individual to Direct the Division's Office of Student Services. The Division annually enrolls over 700 undergraduate students in three majors across two colleges; three undergraduate minors; and one concentration; with Division undergraduates also on pre-medical, pre-health, or pre-professional dietetics tracks. There are over 75 students in the Division's Ph.D., M.S., and Dietetic Intern graduate programs. There are 32 tenured and tenure-track faculty lines, and approximately 30 research and extension academic employees and 20 support staff. The Division has recently hired nine new faculty and is searching to refill additional faculty positions during the next three years, with commensurate growth in academic programs and student enrollment. The Division is deeply committed to facilitating and promoting student educational success, well-being, and personal and professional development and providing an environment in which students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds will thrive.
This individual will direct the services, programs, and operations that support the Division's undergraduate and the graduate degree and non-degree academic programs and students. They will also develop and manage a student services team to advance academic programs and support students, advisors, and academic program directors.
What you will do:
This an exciting opportunity where the Director will play an instrumental role in overseeing a student services team that will develop new and enhanced approaches to advising; student engagement; and activities to achieve the Division's academic program goals and objectives for student learning and development. In doing so, you will work closely with Division leadership, faculty, students, and staff, and with counterparts in our colleges of Human Ecology and Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Cornell Graduate School, and in other university offices. Your role will span undergraduate and graduate programs, providing a unique opportunity to positively impact students and academic programs at all levels of university education.
Other key responsibilities:
- Advise students and collaborate to develop effective advising programs and support.
- Oversee the administrative operations of the undergraduate and graduate programs and support of the faculty Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies.
- Advise leadership on evidence-based practices, emerging directions, and Cornell approaches and initiatives in undergraduate and graduate student services and experience; lead and provide expertise for planning, implementation, and continual improvement of student services.
- Design and implement program planning, project management, and systems to implement services, assess programs, and enhance communications.
- Serve as an active member of college and campus-wide committees for advising, student support, graduate student programs; represent the Division at events and other opportunities to communicate services, programs, and initiatives.
- Work closely with the Executive Director of Administration and Finance to plan and implement graduate student financial aid and program budgets of over $1M annually.

What we are looking for:
We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to facilitate and promote student success, well-being, and personal and professional development. A bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or related fields or nutrition, public health, or other areas of life or social sciences, and at least three to five years experience in academic program administration, student advising, and program management or equivalent combination is required. Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability lead teams and build productive working relationships with many different constituents, with the capability to understand and incorporate their needs and goals into programs and services. Excellent communication, customer service, analytical, and strategic program development and management skills are required. A master's degree and at least six years' experience, including supervision, support of experiential learning opportunities, and conducting program evaluations, is preferred.
