The International Student Program Coordinator is a continuing, 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff (A&PS) position providing leadership for all programs related to community building and developmental advising among international students. The International Student Program Coordinator will also serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) and assist the Assistant Dean and Director with responsibilities related to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the International Student Resource Center.
This position provides support, advising, and community development for international students. Duties/essential functions may include, but are not be limited to, the following:
Programming & Advisement (65%):
? Provide support, advising, and community development for international students related to academic, social, cultural, and personal matters that can impact academic success.
? Serve as a liaison between the ISRC and identity-based student organizations such as the International Student Organization.
? Offer educational programs through the center and in collaboration with partners across campus on a wide variety of subjects: academic research opportunities, curricular and co-curricular initiatives, career readiness workshops, cross-cultural communication, and beyond.
? Build collaborative relationships with offices that work closely with international students, including the MRC, Writing Center, Career Development Center, Academic Departments and Athletics.
? Assist in coordinating and running international student pre-orientation and continuing orientation.
SEVIS Management, Visa Document Preparation & Reporting (25%):
? Serve as a DSO and ARO, ensuring compliance with immigration regulations.
? Assist the director in monitoring, reporting, and submitting required information and documentation to federal governmental agencies via SEVIS as needed.
? Assist students in understanding and following immigration regulations via website maintenance, workshops, and one on one advising appointments.
Marketing & Social Media Management (10%):
? Develop and maintain a robust social media presence for the center.
? Coordinate weekly ISRC newsletter in conjunction with student staff.
? Create marketing materials as needed.
? Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of work experience in relevant field.
? Per federal regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident in order to serve as a DSO and ARO.
? Experience in developing relationships with members of a variety of cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, international origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and/or other aspects of human diversity.
? Excellent written and interpersonal communication with the ability to communicate effectively with all components of the College and external constituents.
? Prior experience in creating and implementing programming for college students.
