DESCRIPTION
Under the leadership of the Executive Director of Career and Professional Development and Senior Associate Directors, the Associate Director of Career Development and Industry Engagement serves as an active member in the Career Development, Career Education, Operations, and Industry Relations pillars within the unit of the Career Center. The Associate Director provides a range of services and programs to meet the career development and education needs of students and alumni. Utilizing various theoretical frameworks integrated with the understanding of career and life design, experiential learning, and mentoring in the academic and co-curricular learning experience for all students, advises students/alumni on a full range of career and professional development opportunities, including individual or group advising/ coaching, career planning, setting career goals, decision-making, and improving career readiness competencies. Provides a holistic approach to student/alumni career coaching and creates and facilitates workshops and presentations as necessary. Develops and sustains relationships with current or potential employers and other organizations to build lasting relationships while augmenting recruiting efforts and aligning career opportunities with students.
The Associate Director will collaborate with career communities including academic, alumni, employer, parent, and business communities in addition to partnering with senior leadership and major stakeholders across the university. The Associate Director will work closely with Senior Associate Directors and the Executive Director to develop scalable programs and interventions that engage students in career and life design, experiential learning, alumni and employer connections, and transferable skill/core competency development. The focus of the Associate Director will also include developing a "hub" of connections as an informed connector in an opportunity platform and career ecosystem that empowers students and alumni, with special attention to underrepresented communities, especially first-generation and limited income. Performs independently, but may receive guidance in developing new career advising/coaching services and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of work related to student advising/counseling activities in an academic setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
Thorough knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice, and workshop and program design.
Demonstrated knowledge of University programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, and employment trends.
Proven knowledge of academic, vocational, career programs and opportunities with the ability to apply theories and principles of higher education in a college structure.
Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of intergroup relations, social justice, student development, intercultural communication, and diversity.
