The Highlights Reporting to the Associate Director of Scholarship, the Graduate/Professional Scholarship Coordinator, as part of the OFA Scholarship team is responsible for coordinating, awarding and reconciling graduate scholarships, discounts and veterans benefits. This includes counseling students, advising staff on the complexities of these programs, and the review process to ensure accurate posting of Veteran awards benefits received by DPU (in excess of $7mm).
This position will work closely with the Corporate and Employer Outreach, Student Accounts, and Office of Veteran's Affairs as well as graduate admissions and college offices to assist in program implementation and award processing. This position is responsible for incorporating new regulations and for consulting with other Financial Aid teams to ensure efficient delivery of Financial Aid funds to students.
Is This You? - Facilitates the awarding and reconciliation of discount programs and institutional, endowed, and external scholarship funds by applying extensive institutional knowledge and directly advising the relevant stakeholders, such as current and prospective students, or, interfacing with scholarship donors, agencies, or foundations, or, coordinating with internal university financial aid office for the graduate and professional level programs. Analyzes financial aid appeals, considering changing and/or extenuating circumstances of the students, and resolve appeals that balance individual-level student outcomes with group and organizational-level university institutional financial aid budgets. Apply knowledge of complex federal Department of Education Financial Aid eligibility rules to determine necessary follow-up if any, to resolve conflicting data, recalculate, and complete processing and awarding of students' financial aid disbursement packages.
Works with Development Office professionals, College Deans, and their administrative teams in the graduate and professional levels to award appropriately, monitor, and report the expenditure of institutional scholarship funds.
Incorporate new graduate and professional programs, initiatives, and regulations into processes as needed. Participate in process review and improvement as new initiatives are implemented. Create and update student communications regarding graduate and veterans aid programs.
- Consult and coordinate effective delivery of FA funds to students and their families through OFA Student Service liaisons or as needed, consult directly with students and their families.
Process VA Post 9-11 GI Bill funds in compliance with all regulations governing this program. Award federal, state and/or institutional aid to all veteran students, utilizing knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid rules and regulations to calculate, package, repackage, and/or revise awards as necessary.
- Contributes to the professional development of Office of Financial Aid staff regarding scholarship awarding, via informal knowledge transfer and formal training.

Your Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree required.
- Knowledge of student aid programs and student processes required.
- Capacity to embrace change and willingness to be flexible in work hours.
- Capacity to work independently, effectively, and under pressure during peak processing.
- Demonstrated communication skills, analytical skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Requirements - Preferred: A minimum of three years of professional with scholarships and/or student financial aid programs.
Financial Responsibilities - Participation in administration of individual scholarship and discount programs: aggregate dollars of programs involved exceed $40 million dollars annually
