The Highlights Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS), the Coordinator provides comprehensive management of the department scholarships portfolio of programs designed to foster a sense of belonging and support retention and persistence to graduation for historically marginalized students. In addition, this position will serve as a key contact for managing and following up on student inquiries regarding scholarships and various financial concerns. Finally, the coordinator will provide leadership to the Academic Progress check-ins, manage the budget for the scholarship suite and collaborate with DePaul and external partners in the fulfillment of gift agreements for donor-based scholarships.
Is This You? - Manages the suite of OMSS scholarships including: program and curriculum design, assessment, budget management, application implementation, scholar selection, and advising. This position ensures that the scholars fulfill the conditions of their respective awards, manages the cohort experiences, developing and implementing a four-year curriculum and experiential learning engagement opportunities.
- Oversees budget which includes scholarship endowment and scholarship programming budgets. Collaborates with University Advancement, Donor Relations, Financial Aid, and Admissions to disburse funds, fulfill requirements of gift agreements, submit regular donor reports, and support the procurement of additional scholarship funding.
- Provide leadership and direction for the search and hiring processes, professional development, and performance review for 2 - 3 graduate assistants.
- Responsible for using student records systems to gather, analyze and organize APRs for scholarship programs participants.
- Academic/Financial Advocacy- Conduct academic and financial advocacy sessions with students experiencing academic and/or financial emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree required in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or applicable degree. Master's degree preferred.
- Must have at least one to three years of experience, preferably three in program research, design and assessment
- Experience supervising graduate & undergraduate students
- 1-3 years experience working in higher education setting
- Excellent presentation/facilitation skills including, but not limited to, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent individual, group, and interpersonal skills
- Clear understanding of the issues that impact the lives of students of color, low-income students, and first generation students, undocumented students and students with marginalized genders and sexualities in higher education
- Interest and experience with models for social justice/advocacy work
- Demonstrated ability and sensitivity in working with diverse populations
Managerial Responsibilities - Has responsibility for hiring, training, performance review and professional development for 2 - 3 graduate assistants.
- Approximately 20% of the Coordinator's time will be dedicated to supervision, development and training.
Financial Responsibilities - The coordinator provides oversight to a programming budget and scholarship funds.

Other Skills & Abilities Required - Strong computing skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
- Strong grasp of social media technology including usage in a Student Affairs setting (Facebook, Twitter, Constant Contact, etc)
