Position Summary:

The Resident Director (RD) will support the Student Life Office by fostering a
robust living and learning community for undergraduate residential students, in a manner consistent
with the University’s Mission and Vision, and the Purpose of Residential Life. The Resident Director
is expected to affirm, model, and cultivate the Christ-centered mission of Warner University. The
Resident serves as the management and oversight point person for their assigned hall or halls and its
corresponding exterior zone. RDs are responsible to create a positive, safe and healthy environment
for student living by creating programming initiatives with their staff of Resident Assistants (RA’s).
Resident Director compensation/benefits include Annual Salary, Health Insurance, Campus
Housing, and Meal Plan.

Because this position is for an all male residence hall, only males will be considered for this position.

The Resident Director position is a full time 11- month contract (July 1st - May 31st), paid over 12
months

Responsibilities:
? RDs are required to live on campus and live in their assigned residence hall.
? RDs are expected to maintain professional relationships and boundaries with all student staff
members and residents within their assigned hall; enforce residence and college expectations
as found in our Student Handbook and Community Commitments and submit all necessary
incident reports. RDs will be expected to assist in safety/security efforts. RDs will serve as
first-level responders to campus emergency responses.
? RDs are expected to be available for their residents throughout the weekday and weekends
and build meaningful relationships while maintaining confidentiality; RDs oversee and
monitor the Resident Assistants in maintaining hall maintenance and assist in the planning
and implementation of community programs for their residents and for the larger Warner
Community.
? RDs will complete a designated number of hours per week related to hall oversight and
resident interaction.
? Be visible in halls and at campus-wide functions.
? Plan and conduct weekly RA staff meetings.
? Invest in the personal and spiritual formation of RA’s through weekly one-on-ones and
mentoring relationships.
? Assist in weekly chapel services (Wednesday mornings).
? Assist with Housing placement.
? Have a regular office presence in the Student Life office.
? Plan and facilitate weekly RA training on Fridays, at 10 am.
? Supervise RAs in program budgeting and manage hall programming budget.
? Open and close resident halls at the beginning and end of each semester.
? Conduct regular walk-throughs of the entire residence hall, along with a consistent live-in
presence in the hall.
? Address campus policy violations and emergencies along with Security as needed.
? Oversee levels 1 and 2 discipline with the Dean of Students.
? Participate in Student Life Staff Meetings.
? Participate in Residence Life on-call rotation and black-out dates.
? Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
? Supportive of Warner’s mission, vision, and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle,
and demonstration of character in keeping with biblical models.
? A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field; a Master’s work in
student development, mental health, or Christian ministry is preferred.
? Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
? Ability to work and interact within a diverse environment with demonstrated leadership and
management skills are required; ability to lead students in the coordination and
implementation of regular activities designed to engage the spectrum of students enrolled in
the institution

Special Notes: August is a very busy season for Residence Life. Any outside commitments will need to be approved by the Assistant Dean of Students. RDs are expected to plan and participate in all aspects of RA August Training, Orientation, and Move-In. The beginning and end of each semester will require extra availability.
? This position will regularly require working nights and weekends.
? Additional hours as needed for significant department or university events.
