Under direction from the Director of Student Engagement and Philanthropy, oversee a variety of Student and Young Alumni Engagement programs, including the Class System, to strategically engage and build a philanthropic pipeline and culture of engagement; work with students to plan, implement and evaluate projects, activities, events that promote Advancement student programming; develop and create marketing and publication content for Advancement student programs and serve as the primary advisor to the Class System in building class affinity and lifelong engagement with Virginia Tech.
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree and experience equating to an advanced degree.
Demonstrated experience in advising undergraduate students in a university setting.
Demonstrated experience in event planning, fundraising, educational programming, and/or alumni activities; admissions and/or student recruitment activities.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with strong group presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience working closely and effectively with alumni, university administrators and faculty members.
Must be willing to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed.
Demonstrated experience in training and motivating volunteers.
Demonstrated experience in organizing and completing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated experience developing effective strategies for planning events to enhance philanthropic support.
Working knowledge of social media and experience using it to engage target populations with segmentation and tailoring of messages.
Demonstrated experience working with vendors and arranging contracted services.
Demonstrated Experience in publication and promotional activities including writing, designing, and preparing material for marketing including brochures, newsletters, social media, and websites.
Knowledge of Virginia Tech and its programs desirable.
