Student Systems Support Specialist works within the framework of the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) to provide support to the daily administration of the systems team and will report directly to the Director of Student Systems and Reporting. They work with Web Services and Reporting Analytics in support of all student data reporting; support the Director on special projects as assigned, and participate in strategic planning and the direction of technology implementation. As well, they assist in user acceptance testing, business process development, project management, and reporting for the OUR; and serve as the backup to the Associate University Registrar for Banner initial term setup, registration preparation, graduation processing, and end of term processing.
The Student Systems Support Specialist assists in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements - including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary under direction of the Director. Concierge and suggests business implications for the application of technology to the current business environment.
The
Student Systems Support Specialist has general duties that include but are not limited to:
- Supports the systems team with the testing and deployment of various applications and other enterprise-level solutions
- Assists with the advanced troubleshooting of end-user support issues within the OUR office
- Develops end user training for various functional groups within OUR and other departments within Georgetown University
- Interacts with external stakeholders and develop customized reports using Cognos
- Manages the ticketing system for OUR
- Assists with processing new user access for various student systems
- Provides systems support to various units within OUR
- Assists with updating the OUR website
- Participates in executing user acceptance testing for all OUR systems
- Develops written documentation (standard operating procedures) and end-user instructions
- Assists with the management of strategic OUR projects
- Assists with various system setups to support OUR operations
Work InteractionsReporting to the Director of Student Systems and Reporting, the
Student Systems Support Specialist interacts personally and virtually, by phone, video conference, and via email with students, the OUR staff, Georgetown University faculty members and deans, Student Affairs in the process registration or student termination of matriculation, and possibly external stakeholders. As well, they serve as the first point of contact for Freshservice Ticketing System, and may lead and provide functional guidance to lower-level support employees.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree
- Up to 3 years of experience required [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and work experience] - preference for professional experience in higher education
- Thorough knowledge of Registrar functions and FERPA regulations
- Understanding of basic security structures within Banner
- Familiarity with Microsoft and Google products
- Demonstrable IT project management experience and knowledge of common administration tools and utilities
- Knowledge of Cognos or other Bl application
- Knowledge of student information systems - Banner preferred
- Demonstrable oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals within OUR and various colleges and departments within the university
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships
- A quick learner, self-driven, and possess a can-do attitude
- Ability to learn the university policies and procedures
- High level of administrative and critical thinking skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations
- Ability to work under general guidance/supervision
Preferred qualificationExperience with ticketing systems
