SummaryThe Director of Student Engagement and Leadership provides vision, strategic direction, and execution of programs and services aimed at achieving a high-quality student experience and preparing students to positively impact society. The director leads the engagement team with autonomous oversight of over 60 student organizations, residential life, programming, and teaching in courses, to promote belonging, outcomes based co-curricular involvement, and leadership skill development.
The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) is a small, private, close-knit community that prepares students for practice and leadership in healthcare and pharmacy careers. UHSP has four different colleges and 14 health science academic programs, including the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at UHSP. It is the third oldest and 10th-largest pharmacy college in America. Located in the heart of the city in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, MO, UHSP is easily accessible by public transportation. We are in the Washington University Medical Campus, one of the nations preeminent biomedical complexes.
Responsibilities: -
Implement a strategic vision for a high-quality student experience and belonging, incorporating various stakeholders and student development theory.

Develop and carry out an outcomes-based co-curricular programming model for student engagement.

Create and execute a comprehensive and ongoing leadership training program for new and experienced student leaders.

Ensure ongoing data tracking and assessment of engagement and leadership efforts to promote continuous improvement, inform decisions, and allocate resources.

Supervise three direct reports including the assistant director of residence life and student engagement, coordinator of student engagement, and graduate assistant. Ensure the team is supported in goal setting, ongoing performance appraisal, and career development.

Assist in the advisement of student organizations, Campus Activity Board, and Greek life.

Provide leadership for the operation, administration, and development of residential life.

Assist in developing, implementing, and assessing programmatic efforts of residential life.

Lead the development of a residential curriculum and learning outcomes for the department

Lead the instruction of the first-year success course, the UHSP leadership scholars' program, and the student leadership awards banquet and others as directed.

Update and maintain policies, procedures, intranet and website content relevant to student engagement.

Serve on various university standing and ad-hoc committees and projects, as requested.
QualificationsEducation and Experience -
Master's degree required in higher education, student personnel, education, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of five years of experience working in student engagement and leadership development.

Experience in Residential Life.

Student and leadership development theory.
-
Professional staff and student supervision.
-
Leadership in new student orientation programming, student government, clubs, and organizations.

Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, organizational and leadership skills, budgeting skills.

Experience with student information systems, including Campus Web (Jenzabar) and Moodle.

Success working with a diverse college student population.

Required to work some evenings and weekends.
