Job Summary:

The Division of Student Affairs at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Director of Admissions. The Director will:

• Be responsible for the general leadership/management of the Student Admissions Office.
• Be responsible for systems implementation & application processing for the College of Medicine, the School of Health Professions, the College of Nursing, and Public Health.
• Provide ombudsman service to students and the School of Graduate Studies.
• Work closely with the VP for Academic & Student Affairs in providing advice and guidance to prospective students.
• Coordinate Admissions Committee & on-campus recruitment events.
• Advise students.
• Supervise the day-to-day operation of the admissions process.
• Perform daily work responsibilities in a customer service and an approachable way.
• Inform students on the admissions process and erasure that accurate and complete files are submitted and prepared for committee review.
• Coordinate the transmittal of student files and applications throughout the admissions cycle.
• Play a key role in the review, development, and enforcement of admissions policies and procedures, including on key faculty academic committees.
• Implements and manages the student information system and participates in enrollment planning.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a relevant field; with at least 8 years of progressively responsible full-time student admissions experience at the associate director or director level, at the university/college settings.
• Must be detailed oriented & forward-thinking.
• Experience with Banner AMCAS and ApplyYourself/ PeopleSoft/AMP/CAS systems.
• Must possess excellent organizational interpersonal, public speaking, and communication skills.
• Must be a demonstrated self-starter and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects.
• Precise attention to detail.
• Knowledge of AMCAS & AMP is required.
• Must demonstrate creativity and initiative in developing and carrying out projects.
• Travel Required.
