Columbia Basin College is seeking a Workforce Education Center (WEC) Outreach and Training Specialist to perform Workforce Education recruitment, applicant triage, and promotion in support of the WEC and its programs. This position will support the programs and staff of the WEC, including four (4) CBC specialists, two (2) CBC Assistant Directors and an Employment Security Department Collocated staff person, as well as other WEC staff and students. This position is Grant funded through the SBCTC Worker Retraining Allocation and is dependent upon continued funding. This position reports to the Director for the Workforce Education Center and will work three or more days a week at the WorkSource Columbia Basin (WSCB) location.

Conduct informational workshops and presentations about CBC academic programs and Workforce Education programs; Participate in outreach and recruitment events conducted by WSCB which may include Emergency Response events, Business Services events, and job fairs;
Coordinate co-enrollment between CBC, WEC, and WSCB services and programs;
Conduct outreach and recruitment events to promote CBC, WEC, and WSCB programs;
Meet with WSCB clients to discuss CBC academic options and programs;
Facilitate CBC near-graduation or graduation students’ access to WSCB services;
Screen, advise, and refer prospective students to appropriate CBC programs including WEC and the VETS center;
Screen WSCB clients for eligibility in WEC programs;
Fulfill the CBC-WSCB MOU by participating in approved operations activity of WSCB which may include basic career service delivery, assisting WSCB clients with general WSCB services, or referrals to WSCB programs;
Contribute to and maintain data in all necessary client information systems following appropriate protocols;
Facilitate information sharing between WSCB and WEC/CBC to fulfill MOU requirements through reports and data entry;
Participate in WSCB and WEC staff meetings and huddles to stay informed of operational changes; Keep WEC/CBC apprised of important WSCB operational events and initiatives and vice versa;
Participate in all mandatory WSCB and CBC trainings and professional development events;
Compile and distribute information relative to program activities, confer with other campus departments and outside agencies; and
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university; and
Two (2) years of customer service experience.
Experience in workforce development programs; and
Experience in direct-to-student services in a higher education setting.
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma. CBC serves approximately 7,000-8,000 students each quarter.Columbia Basin College now offers bachelor degrees in Nursing, Project Management, Applied Management, Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Dental Hygiene. These bachelor degrees are in direct response to the needs of our community. As a result of community needs, Columbia Basin College has recently opened our new state of the art Social Sciences and World Languages Center at the Pasco campus.In July 2017, CBC will open its second, four-story Health Science Center in Richland. In addition to training CBC healthcare professionals, the Wortman Medical Science Center will also be a functional medical clinic as part of Kadlec Regional Medical Center’s family medicine residency program.CBC will open a student housing facility in September.
