Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Completion Coach/Head Esports Coach to assist in the delivery of comprehensive specialized services to enhance the retention and completion results of students at Columbia Basin College. The Completion Coach will employ proactive interventions for at-risk students, academic progress monitoring, general systems navigation, educational planning and provide academic advising during peak registration periods to support retention, persistence and completion. This position will be responsible for retention efforts and advising for student athletes and for a comprehensive call-out program to assist students with college transition. In addition to Completion Coach duties, this position is also responsible for the development and implementation of the esports program, team management, recruitment, equipment monitoring, participant training/coaching, and administration of the program budget. The Head Esports Coach will coordinate competition and practice schedules, marketing, and broadcasting. This position follows National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) and any other associated leagues' policies and regulations and address any barriers to the success of the esports program. This position reports to the Director for Advising, Retention, & Completion.

Primary Responsibilities:
Completion Coach:
- Develop, manage and facilitate a student contact and call-out program to assist with college transition and to provide support throughout the quarter;
- Develop, manage and supervise a Student Mentor Program to support and enhance retention and completion for student athletes and the general student body;
- Develop and manage an academic early warning intervention program and provide follow-up services for referred students to identify and apply retention and completion strategies; Develop, monitor and facilitate a degree completion intervention process to alert students to the graduation process;
- Provide timely and accurate educational information to students regarding pathways, degrees, certificates, courses, college policies and procedures as well as campus resources;
- Deliver developed workshops/presentations on topics to include study skills, college and career planning, financial aid processes, scholarship searches, test preparation and motivation assessments;
- Assist with the organization of the First Year Introduction program;
- Assist with educational advising by developing online information sessions and an online advising program;
- Assist students in identifying effective problem-solving skills, self-advocacy approaches, decision making and personal responsibility;
- Disseminate information on programs and services to students, College staff and the community; and
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Head Esports Coach:
- Develop and maintain a competitive esports program within the guidelines and philosophy of the College and the NJCAAE;
- Recruit student participants within the rules and regulations of the NJCAAE and CBC;
- Conduct coaching and instructional activities during training, practice and competition; create practice and game schedules;
- Develop and adhere to budgetary guidelines as established by CBC;
- Coordinate with the Departments of Student Life (Student Activities, Student Recreation & Wellness, and Residence Life) to integrate the team into the Student Union and support the larger on-campus gaming community;
- Support student development through participation in co-curricular activities; and
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Student Services or related field from an institutionally accredited college or university;
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience preferably in an educational setting in providing direct support to students;
- Knowledge and experience with esports games;
- Ability to envision and drive growth for the development, implementation, and launch of an esports program at CBC; and
- Ability to coordinate all team travel and transportation in conjunction with CBC staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
- One (1) year of experience working with underprepared adults, first generation college students, and/or students with special needs;
- Experience in a community college setting; and
- One (1) year of experience coaching or teaching esports
