The Financial Literacy Administrator will develop, expand, deliver, and maintain the University’s overall financial literacy program to assist students in making informed financial decisions and decreasing overall student debt.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall comprehensive financial literacy programming content, delivery, and assessment for DMU students.
- Develop and maintain the core content of financial literacy program.
- Deliver financial literacy presentations in small and large group settings, one-on-one, and online.
- Establish and utilize electronic options for the delivery of financial literacy content to incoming and current students.
- Develop and maintain relationships with academic deans, programs directors, and student government leaders in order to assess financial literacy needs and appropriate timing of content delivery throughout the year.
- Partner with community financial experts to maintain a group of volunteer financial experts who will participate in forums for students.
- Research and stay up to date on the latest technologies related to financial literacy education content delivery.
- Partner with marketing communications in order to develop targeted and timely web-based financial literacy content.
- Participate in student orientations, entrance and exit interviews in accordance with federal and university guidelines.
- Provide advice and counsel students about available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements and the application process to students; analyze and evaluate financial aid eligibility for students.
- Exercise professional judgment to determine if budget adjustments should be made; make award adjustments and recalculations as appropriate.
- Assist as needed with the financial aid award packaging process in accordance with federal, state and university guidelines.
- Assist with student in-person inquiries and telephone calls.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Participate in and successfully complete all University required training including, but not limited to discrimination/harassment and code of conduct.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in financial planning, business, accounting, economics, management, or general business administration preferred.
- Three years’ experience working in finance, accounting, financial aid administration, or general business management.
- Knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the provision of student financial aid is preferred.
- Must be able to handle confidential information.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
