Position Information
The Behavioral Health Counselor provides direct clinical psychological service to the UCR campus. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide individual, couple, and group therapy to UCR students. This position provides crisis intervention services; consults with students, staff, and faculty; and serves on University committees. The Behavioral Health Counselor will also serve as a liaison to various campus communities. A successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion. Areas of particular interest/experience that would be preferred to service the following communities are preferred: LGBTQ+ communities and identities; African Diaspora; Asian and Pacific Islanders, and clinicians focused on Diversity and Inclusion. Counseling & Psychological Services is a Health and Psychological Student Services (HAPSS) department and supports student success through optimization of emotional and physical health, through direct service, education, and provision of resources and referrals.

The CAPS department prioritizes working with students from marginalized communities including Black/African American, Latinx, Undocumented, Indigenous/First Nations, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Multi-racial, and other students of color. A successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion with a deep commitment to supporting under represented groups in our community.

This posting is looking to recruit for three (3) open full time positions. As part of the recruitment process a presentation will be required from identified finalists. **As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. Requirement 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required Demonstrated commitment and experience with Diversity Required Minimum 1 year post licensure experience. Minimum Requirements
Special Condition Requirement Ongoing mantenance of valid licensure in a behavioral health displine in California, successful completion and maintenance of valid credentialing & privileging process pursuant to UC systemwide requirements. Required Out of State licensed behavioral health counselors are required to acquire California licensure within 180 days from either submitting the application or beginning California residency, whichever occurs first. Required Expectation of availability after hours or on weekends to serve the occasional emergent needs of students and campus challenges/crises. Required Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and other after-hours campus activities. Required

Understanding of intersectionality and how it impacts the daily lives of students.
Thorough knowledge of diagnostic/psychological testing methodologies.
Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic approach and modify as necessary.
Knowledge of business software and specialized applications/systems used in behavioral health settings.
Knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
Highly effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with a diverse client group.
Demonstrated skills to intervene with suicidal, homicidal, and psychotic clients
Interpersonal skills to work as part of a team, as a member of committees, and collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff.
