Position Summary
The Senior Admissions Counselor is a vital member of the Access, Diversity and Outreach team within the Office of Admissions at Bowling Green State University. This position assists the team in supporting and recruiting students from diverse backgrounds - including, multicultural, low-income, undocumented, LGBTQ+ and first-generation college students. With this, this position will develop relationships with school counselors and community partners by coordinating group visits to BGSU’s campus.
The Senior Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting and establishing relationships with prospective students; specifically, using a territory management approach and data to build intentional relationships with prospects, applicants, and their families to meet goals and objectives for territory. With this – Senior Admissions Counselor will travel extensively in the fall for college fairs and recruitment programs; in addition, they will travel as needed in the spring for continued recruitment and student support.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
- Uses territory management approach to manage recruitment territory and meet enrollment goals
- Completes secondary School Visits
- Participates in College Fairs and on or off campus Recruitment Events
- Conducts group presentations
- Track application status and coordinate necessary credentials
- Coordinates group visits to campus
- Assist in hiring and training new Admissions Counselors
- Updating Admission Counselors on changes/new information at BGSU-responsible for portions of staff education days
- Coordinates and executes Admissions Programs in territory
- Reads and understands prospect and applicant data to drive recruitment decisions
- Makes phone calls, initiates and replies to emails, engages in social media and uses Office CRM
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
- Ability to create and sustain working relationships with community and campus partners.
- Demonstrated experience working with historically underrepresented and diverse student populations; preferably with high school teens and/or college students.
- Demonstrated multicultural competence; the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel

Salary
Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 353. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle use policy.
The following experience is required:
- One year of professional experience in higher education and student affairs, non-profit/community organizing, or education.
