Portland Community College is pleased to announce the recruitment of our inaugural Director of Student Belonging and Wellbeing - Multicultural Services position in the new Division of Student Belonging and Wellbeing. This position was created as a result of an all-college reorganization and the successful candidate will have the ability to create and impact change within the College and the Division.
The Director of Multicultural Services reports to the Dean of Student Belonging and Wellbeing, and will serve as a member of the Dean’s leadership team as well as the Vice President of Student Affairs’ Council of Student Affairs Leadership Team (C-SALT). The Director is responsible for the oversight and development of the college’s Multicultural Centers and DREAMers Resource Center and will supervise all professional and student staff members working in those areas.
Other primary responsibilities include implementing future state programming goals developed by Center Teams, leading the creation of a student-centered, hybrid service and operational model and defining partnership opportunities with stakeholders across the College and community, including the Office of Equity & Inclusion, the division of Student Life & Engagement and external organizations. Another integral aspect of this role will be deep collaboration, shared goal setting and intersectional work with other current and incoming Directors who oversee Counseling Services, Veterans Services, Women’s Resource Centers | Outreach and Advocacy Project, and Queer Resource Centers | Community Resource Navigation and Connection.

- Demonstrates visionary, collaborative leadership and an investment in the development of college-wide cross-functional leaders and teams during a historic time of change; utilizes active listening skills, promotes effective cross cultural and bi/multilingual communication and mindfully supports organizational and individual transformation.
- Experience building strong connections, partnerships and collaboration between academic and student affairs divisions, departments, community agencies and organizations focused on supporting culturally and racially diverse populations, and key internal and external stakeholders to advance division and institutional goals.
- Ability to create, foster, and empower an effective team through professional development, training, coaching, mentorship and conflict resolution skills during major institutional changes and whose focus is aligned on equitable student success and retention; ability to shift their teams and the institution toward a more student-centered, culturally responsive and trauma informed model that supports student belonging and wellbeing.
- Experience managing programs that support marginalized and intersectional student communities, including managing multiple budgets and resource development as a function of sustainability, monitoring compliance, and using qualitative and quantitative data and assessment outcomes for decision making and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs/Services, Management, Social Science, or other related field. Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) or more years of management-level experience supervising employees (including hiring, discipline, assessment, etc).
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs/Services, Management, Social Science, or a related field AND five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) or more years of management-level experience supervising employees (including hiring, discipline, assessment, etc)..
OR Bachelor’s Degree in any field AND seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination, to include two (2) or more years of management-level experience supervising employees (including hiring, discipline, assessment, etc).
