Dining Programs at Johns Hopkins University currently operates 8 dining locations across the Homewood and Peabody campuses of Johns Hopkins University, providing dining services to students, faculty staff and visitors which generate $17 Million in annual revenue. Dining Programs is committed to be among the best campus dining programs in the country and this role will support that goal through oversight of a broad range of financial responsibilities.
We are seeking a Finance Manager for University Dining Programs who reports to the Sr. Director of Finance and Operations for University Student Services and is responsible for supporting the Assistant Vice Provost of Dining in all financial aspects of the University's self-operated dining programs.
The incumbent will establish and implement sound business practices, oversee the financial health of our dining operations and support the unit AVP and Dining Program team member managers through reporting and analytics.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
- Oversee all financial and administrative processes for Johns Hopkins University's Dining Program, including purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipts and serve as a resource to all dining program teams regarding such processes, procedures, analytics and systems.
- Develop and/or monitor compliance with University financial policies, internal controls, and internal audit recommendations.
- Work closely with suppliers to educate them on JHU's procurement policies and procedures and closely collaborate with JHU Procurement and Accounts Payable departments to ensure timely payment of all vendors.
Financial Analysis & Budgeting
- Work in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Finance and Operations for University Student Services and the Assistant Vice Provost of Dining to develop budgets, monitor activity within those budgets, and report and analyze results.
Revenue & Expense Management
- Work in collaboration with University Treasurer's office to establish and maintain local cash handling procedures that emphasize strong internal controls.
- Oversee a Budget Specialist in the reconciliation of revenues and expenses between various systems.
- Implement Point of Sale Solution that will meet the needs of all patrons to University Dining Programs and work with our Enterprise Business Systems team to create integrations to the general ledger.
Payroll
- Ensure proper recordation of payroll for all dining program employees in SAP.
- Oversee a Budget Specialist in the weekly processing of payroll for 200 bargaining unit team members and 30 staff (non BU).
- Create payroll reports from the payroll system and reconcile to payroll entries in SAP.
- Runs various BW Analysis reports on staff, headcount, positions, salary overpayments, etc.
Inventory
- Oversee the recording of dining related inventory to properly reflect inventory values in the general ledger.
- Oversee the budget specialist in properly valuing month end inventory.
- Reconcile values in the inventory sub ledger to SAP on a monthly basis.
Other Duties Include
- Develop annual operating budgets in alignment with overall Student Services divisional budget, goals, and policies.
- Monitor monthly revenues and expenditures using financial reports from SAP, CBord, StarRes and Transact and reconcile those to supporting documentation and systems.
- Analyze budget patterns and historical trends to accurately project expenditures and revenues.
- Monitor, identify and communicate important budgetary issues such as over expenditures, revenue reductions, potential cost savings and unplanned costs to the Sr. Director of Finance, USS and the AVP of Dining.
- Build financial models as needed to evaluate future year programing.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
- Five years progressively responsible related financial/accounting and financial management experience (e.g., planning, directing, monitoring, organizing, and controlling the monetary resources of a department, center, or unit).
- Additional education (Master's in a related field) may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Industry experience in a high volume food service environment a plus.

- Ability to deal effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, prospective students, alumni, etc.
- Must possess good analytical skills, strong computer skills and knowledge in the use of spreadsheets, database and word processing applications.
