Position SummaryThe Global Campus mission is to be a world leader in delivering innovative educational experiences to all learners, expanding opportunity, and transforming lives. The Evaluations area evaluates students for admission to the SDSU Global Campus credit and degree programs.
The Office of Admissions and Evaluations supports student success through admission application reviews and records evaluation. Evaluators provide academic advising in general education and graduation requirements for SDSU Global Campus degree programs as well as clarify University academic policy and procedure. As a department of SDSU Global Campus, our goal is to provide student support with an emphasis on excellent student service and academic excellence.
Under the supervision of the Supervisor Evaluations, the primary responsibilities of the Academic Evaluator for Global Campus online degree completion programs are: 1) to determine eligibility for admission to the SDSU Global Campus degree programs, 2) evaluation of records towards bachelor degree requirements, and 3) advising and counseling of students and staff on admission and degree requirements.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Education and ExperienceExperience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications -
One-two (1-2) year(s) of experience in interpreting and explaining academic policies governing public or private university admissions.

One-two (1-2) year(s) of experience working in a college or university's admissions, advising, evaluations, registrar, or another student service-related field.

One-two (1-2) year(s) of experience in interpreting and explaining certification policies of the CSU and California community college systems.

Experience with a college/university's student information system; SIMSR or PeopleSoft preferred.

Demonstrated experience using degree audit system; uAchieve preferred.

Demonstrated experience reviewing college transcript information and evaluating transcripts.

Demonstrated experience with course articulation; College Source experience preferred.

Ability to calculate grade point averages.
Specialized Skills -
Minimum of one-two (1-2) year(s) of experience in student services or higher education administration that requires the interpretation and application of regulations and policies.

Knowledge of University student admission process and admission best practices.

Proven ability to meet deadlines; ability to multitask and prioritize with concurrent deadlines.

Ability to explain and interpret the application of complex regulations, policy, requirements, and criteria to individual situations.

Advanced computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Word. MS Excel, database systems, and student information systems.

Compensation and BenefitsSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120 per month.
SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward, a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
