Summary of Duties:
This position has responsibility for planning, organizing, and managing the Student Success Initiatives and Communications units in Student Financial Services. This includes supervising managers, supervisors, and/or team leads. Responsible for directing and controlling program operations. Must regularly exercise independent judgment, discretion, and timely decision-making. Also responsible for providing collaborative leadership in training and professional development of the staff. Cooperatively works with other teams on: budget related expenditures, hiring and personnel matters and actions, and actively creating the development and implementation of strategic and long-range plans, goals, objectives, office policies, procedures, and practices. Position duties and responsibilities will be performed in support of the office vision, mission, and values as well as those of the Office of the Provost,Enrollment Management Division and Washington State University mission and goals.
This position is primarily based on the Pullman campus with some partial hybrid work available.
Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field which has included at least two (2) years of management experience. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experienced in staff motivation, supervision, training, and employee relations.
Demonstrated experience in student financial aid programs, including a working knowledge of and experience in the development,maintenance and/or implementation of automated financial aid processes as part of an integrated student information system.
Excellent administrative skills, including coordinating and managing projects, formulating new initiatives, identifying goals, problem solving establishing policy, and implementing regulations and systems planning.
Excellent interpersonal, communications (verbal/written), and organizational skills.
Proven ability to effectively communicate, guide, and assist diverse constituents.
Highly experienced in serving diverse client populations and well trained in best practices for handling customer relations and conflict resolution.
Strong communications background to include: outreach and marketing, public relations, community relations, and/or media relations.
Master's Degree in relevant field.
Experience with PeopleSoft Financial Aid software, including systems analysis, functional operations and knowledge of student administration module in an institution of higher education.
Working knowledge of integrated student services systems and other imaging/scanning software operations.
Experience with WSU student services especially Admissions, Student Accounts, New Student Programs, Center for Advising/Career Development, Registrar, Global Campus, International Programs, Graduate School, Athletics, and Student Affairs and Administrative Services.
