Reporting to the Director of the Academic Enrichment Program, the Program Coordinator for Triton Research and Experiential Learning Scholars (TRELS) will manage research opportunities for undergraduate students to partner broadly with faculty members across all divisions. Incumbent will manage the student research award application process; coordinate application review committees; notify students of award status; track and advise student awardees throughout research projects; develop database of student awardees, faculty mentors and project assignments.
The Coordinator will advise students on program and University procedures and policies related to participation in the research program. Build and maintain professional relationships with departments and local organizations in relevant industries to develop experiential learning opportunities for students. Evaluate research opportunity proposals/descriptions for adherence to program guidelines, providing guidance as needed to ensure academic needs are met. Serve as liaison to academic departments and campus units, providing program information and participating in workshops and events as needed to promote the program to undergraduate students. Develop and cultivate relationships with faculty and program staff at UCSD and other institutions who agree to use the Triton Research and Experiential Learning Scholars program to provide research experiences for undergraduate students.
Programming duties will include planning within the unit for the year, maintaining regular communication with students applying for undergraduate research scholarships, opportunities, and coordinating activities with the Colleges, Academic Enrichment Programs, and academic departments regarding deadlines and programmatic events. Administrative duties will include creating and maintaining databases of undergraduate research opportunities, creating and maintaining student profiles, and handling budgetary tasks for undergraduate research awards/scholarships and programs, including the disbursement of related stipends and awards.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of experiential learning models and practices.
Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases. Strong computer skills in all components of the Microsoft Office Suite, including excel, word, PPT.
Confident public relations and interpersonal skills. Advanced writing skills with ability to present clear, concise information to diverse populations that include large groups and individual faculty, staff, students, recruiters, university administrators and constituent organizations.
Basic knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars.
Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Ability to interpret broadly defined and/or non-proceduralized policies and regulations and to analyze data and evaluate student academic coursework.
Understanding of University rules and regulations.
Experience assisting in planning, organizing and coordinating educational programs.
Ability to identify, research and analyze complex situations; recommend solutions and determine course of action.
Previous experience managing or supporting a program that develops undergraduate student research opportunities with a faculty mentor.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and develop programmatic activities from general guidelines.
Experience with conference or event planning.
Experience working with students in higher education settings and knowledge of trends in higher education, particularly in relation to research internships and experiential learning.
Experience with social media to conduct outreach. Experience interacting and developing relationships with a range of campus and community entities.
