The Colleges of the Fenway (COF) Global Education Opportunities Center (GEO) works directly withthe Offices of International Programs at each of the colleges to facilitate and coordinate key componentsof internationalization related to study abroad, support of international students, cross registration fortravel courses, shared resources, and systems & processes related to emergency procedures for travel.The Assistant Director of the GEO Center will have a primary role with community-building amongstinternational students, faculty, and staff across the COF. The first year of this position will focus heavilyon developing a cross-functional strategic engagement plan in collaboration with the InternationalCommittees, Student Affairs, and Human Resources in support of the COF Strategic Priorities aroundbuilding affinity groups and supporting the mental and emotional health of our international communitymembers. The Assistant Director will also serve as Alternate Responsible Officer for the consortium?sBridgeUSA J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. This position additionally supports study abroad operationsand joint resources that help to prepare students to travel abroad. The Assistant Director reports to theDirector of the GEO Center.Notable Responsibilities:International Education Programming? Develop and implement programming strategy for international student & scholar communitybuilding, including cross-cultural component of the J-1 exchange program.? Work with COF Student Affairs and Human Resources to build out affinity groups.? Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer for the U.S. Department of State BridgeUSA J-1 ExchangeVisitor Program for the consortium.? Market/Promote COF-wide events and travel course cross-registration opportunities in collaborationwith the COF Director of Academic Services and Director of Programs and Communications.? Manage and expand use of online US tax preparation software (Sprintax) and materials forinternational students and scholars tax compliance.? Manage, conduct, and assess other GEO Center events including info sessions, pre-departureorientations and international student events; manage the COF international events calendar.Study Abroad Operations? Facilitate one or more International Education committees.? Manage and assess committee joint projects; communicate action items and reminders to members.? Maintain knowledge of and support use of shared database (TerraDotta).? Develop and update written and virtual training materials.? Monitor email accounts and respond to inquiries.Administrative? Manage the scheduling of COF International Education committees? meetings, prepare minutes andfollow-up actions; manage tools and resources that facilitate collaboration.? Assist with data collection and reporting.? Maintain GEO Center website content.? Work with COF Operations and Office Managers to manage invoice payments.? Serve as a key member of the COF staff; attend monthly COF staff meetings, provide monthlyreports, represent COF at various functions.? Represent the COF at BASAA meetings, NAFSA, and/or other professional development meetingsand conferences.Required Qualifications:? Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in related field preferred.? Three to five years? related work experience.? Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office.? Team-oriented, inclusive consensus builder with strong interpersonal skills; experience managingprojects and synthesizing multiple ways of thinking and diverse approaches to nurture strongcommunities of practice.? Demonstrated commitment to co-curricular events planning and management.? Outstanding written and oral communication skills; effective presentation skills.? Demonstrated success in collaborative work with faculty, students, and staff from a range ofbackgrounds.? Ability to handle ambiguity and a busy work environment and keep a sense of humor.? Knowledge of federal regulations for J-1 exchange visitors preferred.? Experience with marketing, social media, web design preferred.? Experience with database or CRM platform preferred.? Familiarity with computer applications including SEVIS, databases, Microsoft 365, Asana, andAdobe Creative Suite preferred.? As required by the U.S. Department of State, must be US citizen or Permanent Resident to serve inthe capacity of Alternate Responsible Officer.
