Menlo School is seeking an engaging music educator to provide leave coverage for the spring term (February - May) of the 2021-22 school year. This position is structured as a full time position.
Responsibilities include leading rehearsals for three ensembles (Upper School Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Middle School Orchestra) and two general music courses (electronic music making and music appreciation). The teacher will need to set up and break down chairs, stands, keyboards, and amps for each rehearsal. Lesson plans for the general music courses will be provided. Other responsibilities include leading an advocacy group of ten 12th grade students and coaching the Middle School Orchestra club after school.
Education and experience requirements:
A bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree in music education and/or music performance strongly preferred.
Minimum 3 years teaching experience required.
Experience rehearsing music ensembles.
Familiarity working with orchestral instruments, keyboards, amps, and electronic instruments.
