NYU Stern Breakthrough Scholars Leadership Program has an exciting opportunity available for a Director, Breakthrough Scholars in our Office for Diversity & Inclusion. The Director will direct the NYU Stern Breakthrough Leadership Scholars Program and the newly created Berkley Scholars Program, two immersive cohort-based programs that equip a select group of Stern undergraduate scholarship recipients with the skills and relationships needed to excel at school and in their professional careers. The Director will direct program operations and staff, budgets, communications, and the strategic direction and evaluation of program goals and student outcomes. The Director will also oversee curriculum development, define pedagogical methods to experiential program design and adapt them to the needs of Scholars. The Director will engage with scholars through workshop facilitation and by conducting advising sessions with students. The Director will also cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to promote student development, engagement, persistence and success.
The selected candidate will have a bachelor's degree (master’s degree preferred) and 7+ years of experience working in a university, educational institution, or youth development program or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include substantive experience in program development. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organizational and program management and relationship building skills are required. Commitment to advancing college access and success for underrepresented students is also required. Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment, create processes, set goals and implement strategies for achieving them is also key. Knowledge in leadership development; experience designing and implementing experiential learning opportunities for students; coaching; equity, diversity, inclusion; communications and marketing are also preferred.
