The William James College Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion seek a Student Engagement and Equity Coordinator. This dynamic role with dual reporting structure serves an important function for both offices, aiding in event planning and community engagement, assisting with student leadership projects, and organizing the workflow and dissemination of useful information and resources from both Offices to the William James College community.
The Coordinator would support both offices in developing promotional materials and community outreach strategies; collecting and interpreting program/event data; and coordinating with campus partners. This role would also work directly with student government and student leaders to collaborate on initiatives and be helpful to all areas under both Offices; such as the Academic Resource Center and Career Services, as well as members of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
The ideal candidate would be a skilled communicator, and should have experience working with college students, and with managing and implementing programs.
Preferred skills include knowledge of topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion, especially pertaining to issues in higher education, and an understanding of college student engagement and creating learning outcomes.
Essential Functions across both offices:
Develop and maintain an Outreach Program to work with student leadership and co-curricular student organizations
Promote, support, and coordinate logistics for student leadership initiatives student government and other co-curricular student organizations
Create and disseminate monthly (email) newsletters, event fliers, and related promotional materials
Organize logistics for important meetings which include room bookings, zoom links, note taking, communications, and catering
Maintain, update, and create information for webpages managed by the two Offices (this does not require the ability to build pages; it is focused on content)
Conduct research to support various initiatives in both Offices and input data into necessary tracking systems such as CareerLink and Everfi
Assist with coordinating logistics for events and programs
Assist with collection of data and student feedback for the Academic Resource Center
Assist with the coordination of our community service projects and online resources
Assist with administrative projects as needed
NOTE: This position will require some evening hours during the semester, and occasional weekend work.
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Ability to troubleshoot most problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work
Commitment to learning and enhancing knowledge, skills and abilities in diversity, equity, and inclusion
Interpersonal, collaborative, and team-building skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others, while also working autonomously
Technical qualifications include solid knowledge of MS Office, other office software such as Publisher/Photoshop, and experience with a content management system.
Interest and experience in designing and implementing high-quality activities, programs and services for students.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional attitude and strong customer service skills.

Master's degree in Higher Education or related field
Experience working with graduate students, non-traditional students, and/or students from marginalized populations
